The problem with the archer's is NOT that they inflict heavy losses when they fire on the enemies army.

The problem is , that they easy can stand vs heavy infantry in a close combat.
And they always win vs militia in close combat situations.
I won many test battles with armies that only consisted of archers.
They are always better than any other infantry (and they are also much cheaper) with on exception - they dont get that high discipline boni like heavy-inf
Usually it only get's dangerous when the oppenents army consists of heavy infantry (i guess its the discipline boni) + CAVALLERY units.

When i take a look at the unit values

type = archers

maneuver = 1

militia = 2.0
heavy_infantry = 1.25
------------------------
type = militia

maneuver = 1

archers = 0.5
------------------------
type = heavy_infantry

maneuver = 1

archers = 0.75
-----------------------

i guess there is something wrong and should be changed.

for example

heavy_infranty vs archers = 3.0
and militia vs arches = 2.0

or something like that.
Also Militia nearly look useless (when u can use archers as infantry instead) except that u dont need wood to build them.
U can even use archers for storming castles...

P.S. didnt try it...but i guess an army only consisting of horche archers will even do better.
