A person on Steam asked this and I realized I wanted to know this as well so I came here to find out. :)

I know of the Mysteries but I wonder if there are specific Scenarios where you have defined goals to strive towards and win. Like in Anno or Tropico.
 
I don't think they've demo'd anything like challenge scenarios, but it wouldn't be too hard to implement. They've already got the Mysteries system, which has to track various things - wouldn't be hard to set up a series of pass/fail checkpoints for a proper "can you rescue a colony?" scenario.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is added as a feature, especially for modding use.
