Since the DH engine supports speeches well, I wanted to gauge if people are interested in speeches being added (ex. in mods).

Please answer:
Q1: Would you like speeches?
Q2: How long do you want to listen to a speech? The entire speech (the three I've seen so far seem to be around 12 minutes), or excerpts?

1: yes
2: please keep it short. i tried this once and finally i thought 2 minutes are already enough (especially if its not your mother language - eg it might be fun to listen to the Kaiser or Göring for a german, but not for somebody who doesnt get anything. english speeches could get longer, IMO).

example: the churchill speeches or roosevelt can get longer (as most people will get it), but if adolf screams over 5 minutes - that can be hell, or de Gaulle talking about 8 minutes... :D

I think an appropriate speech, say, certainly from Hitler, definitely adds to the immersion in the game. For Hitler, I don't have a clue what he is saying, but, he is frightening in his passion and belief.

Brits tend to sound too civilised and like listening to a grandfather figure. Churchill is usually good, as he was a great speaker, the others far less so.

Americans sound like it's a game, and adventure. Like kids going to a party.

I'd prefer excerpts, say 1 or 2 minutes, to a maximum of 3? Just to add flavour and set up the scene.
Long speeches get boring very quickly.

I would dearly, dearly love the ability to add small bink video content to events. Imagine the impact to the player experience to see real WW2 footage for special events.

The size and duration should be limited to save system resources. As an outsider with no knowledge of how the game is programmed, I suggest loading it from disk when needed so these files are not cached in RAM until needed.

Cheers,
Sword

And who will we hear?

Churchill and Roosewelt are clear to be in. But I suggest Georg VI, Stalin, Hitler (hopefully it's allowed since it doesn't contain any swastikas), Goering or Goebbels, Hirohito or some other japanese guy, Mussolini and perhaps Horthy to be in as well.

As long as there is a variation of speeches (I'm sick and tired of "teeeaaars and sweat") it's cool. Some of propaganda's finest speeches of all the major nations, not depending on whoever lost or won. Well, und von jetzt ab, wird Bombe mit Bombe vergolten! :p
