In CK2 I never released any of the modding I did except Patrum Scuta, which Solo took over after I lost interest in the game.

The lack of naval combat and the bad peace deal mechanic just sapped all motivation out of me to make the other aspects of the game better.

But I never stopped working on historical mapping after somebody on the Paradox forum put me on to using QGIS for it.

And so this thread is basically just a, if you're interested in this*, I have a small personal discord I was in the process of setting up for a historical gis project among other of my interests.

Shapefiles and historical maps will be gathered and shared and by the time CK3 comes out, people involved will be able to export a province.bmp map in a few minutes that matches their plans and interests.

To be clear, this is not a call for one specific mod. It's a place to share resources so that people can make the map mod they themselves want, with resources just by hand, I don't believe in hoarding resources or 'competition'.

>I have removed the link since the interest wasn't there. The discord still exists for my projects, and if you want to join just message me.

It's not 100% done being set up, I wasn't expecting CK3 for a few more years, so please excuse me for being rushed a bit.

*this being historical mapping in a useful format for paradox games primarily using gis software

Here's another example of data I've come across over the years, showing every bishop and archbishop in 1100, this too will be available on the server.

I hope they (map mods) won't be necessary :)

I am almost certain, though, that they will appear

Even if we unexpectedly find a near perfect map by Paradox, there'll be people with different visions or people who want a different focus or even want to zoom in on an area.

The idea is just to have the tools for people to do this in a better war than ever, teach people the power of GIS and unleash them to do as they are impassioned to do.

Yes, what I meant was exactly this. Even if there would be a perfrct map, which is impossible, people will still want to adjust it to what they like and prefer.

So yea!

Maybe I can offer my map project too? rome.webz.cz
