don't know if this been mentioned before but when i want to instal the arma 1.2 patch. i says it wants to instal it in the Doomsday folder  .

can i change that to armageddon? or whil it skrew up my game ??

There is an Anthology HOi2 version of the DD-Arma game, and also a Gamers Gate version of Arma. In the Anthology version Arma is a stand alone game with its own directory for install (not doomsday folder). The Gamersgate version of Arma does get installed to the existing doomsday folder, along with patches.

Which version of Arma do you own?

If GG version, install to doomsday folder and patch to doomsday folder with 1.2 patch that is linked on GG.

If Anthology version, install to armageddon folder and patch to armageddon folder with 1.2 patch that is linked in the sticky'd patch thread on the hoi2-dd forum.

Edit: I see in your avatar you own anthology - install patch to armageddon, not doomsday. Use the patch that is linked in the sticky post thread.

I've tried to install the 1.2 patch a couple times now, but the game still says "ver 1.1" in the top corner when it starts running. I bought the Anthology version, and used the patch from the link in the sticky thread. Am I applying it incorrectly?

Make sure that you installed it in the correct folder. For Anthology it`s

C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Armageddon

or whatever folder your version of Armageddon is actually in.

Worked finally! I was using the default installation path, which usually seems to work...but it was throwing it into Armageddon/Doomsday for some reason. Once I deleted the "Doomsday" out of there, it patched the game.

Good. This is a very common problem, the default path, even for the Anthology patch is always Doomsday/Arma. I would say a sticky should be made about it, but no one reads stickies.

When it comes to this stuff I certainly do.

What problems have people been having with installing the game under the Programs folder with Vista? I'm wondering if I'm going to be facing some issues down the road with that...

 Uh oh, Vista is another area where people seem to have lots of problems. Really though, I'm guessing that 99% of the time there is no problem encountered, and the issues that pop up on the forum represent a small minority.

Here is the start of a summary of the issues I've seen here with Vista,
and suggestions.

1. DVD will not auto-run the setup install. Need to manually run the setup from the DVD after browsing to it.

2. Rights issues.
a) User sign on profile lacks administrator privileges. Often related to UAC (user account control). Either have appropriate rights or turn off UAC.
b) Game was installed to C:\program files\ which can either trigger UAC or "hides" files from the user (like save games). Avoid this by installing the game to C:\games or some such folder; don't install to c:\program files.
c) User can't find save games when installed to default. There is a setting, that I can't remember exactly, to show all file types - enable it.

I'm sure I forgot some. Of those I listed, 2.b. is probably the most frequent problem.
