Goals

  • Give players more choices both historical and ahistorical.
  • Make the Interwar period (1918-1936) work without unit overload/maxed out techs/crashes etc.
  • Make the Interwar period of 18 years flavorful and eventful, catering to both history adherents and alternate history fans.
  • Make the Interwar period run quickly and smoothly enough so that it might only take one whole evening to go from 1918-1936.
  • Ensure that the mod is practical and balanced, with quality in mind.
  • Ensure that the mod interferes as little as possible with other mods. Compatibility is important.
  • Take care with any translations, use people instead of google when possible.

it will be a bit of a long shot though as italy and A-H have some overlapping claims, needs more thought but A-H may need to give or promise something to Italy

The list above is just a rough plan. I will clean up the above list as I go and I will somehow mark which events are working and in place, which are WIP, which are unfinished etc. If you would like to help me with this project, send me a PM or just share your thoughts and ideas here in the thread.

Sounds great initiative!
Call me biased, but you should include Treaty of Riga, signed between Poland and Soviet Russia, since thats the major one that ended [international] war in Eastern Europe and last peace treaty signed by Soviet Russia with its European neighbours, not Treaties of Versailles or Brest-Litovsk.
I'd probably wish to go on and on.. but you also should include Locarno treaties and German-Soviet secret military cooperation (now that was fun).

Great idea! This is what 1914. scenario really needed. Also few suggestions: consider some events for Ruhr crisis for Germany and France, possibly Belgium, and for Ger monetary crisis of the same year. Also there could be something about Dowes (1924) and Young (1929) plans for reduction of German reparations that could give some IC released for Ger or take off some dissent, or something along these lines. Also I could probably provide you with some events for Yugoslavia, maybe some other ideas for other countries because I found this period very interesting during my studies. Keep up the good work!

First of all, The death of king Peter I, obviously changing the head of state to Alexander I Karadjordjevic. The date is 16. august 1921.

Little Entente
Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes forms defensive alliance with Czechoslovakia and Romania to counter Hungarian and Bulgarian revachism and possible Habsburg restoration. Kingdom SCS signed treaties with CSK and Rom in april and july of 1921.It could give guarantees and non-agresion pacts between these countries.

"Obznana" (Announcment)
Banishment of Communist party, 30. december 1920. Possibly giving some small amount of dissentand move slider to political right and authoritarian, or, if not taken, move slider to the political left .

Death of Nikola Pasic
Replacing Nikola Pasic as prime minister with Nikola Uzunovic in 10. december 1926.

Assasination in Parliament
On june 20th 1928 Serbian representative from Montenegro, Punisa Racic, insulted by some of their comments, shot and killed Pavle Radic and Djura Basaricek from Croatian peasant party, and mortally wounded its leader Stjepan Radic. It could give some amount of dissent, for example 10.

January dictatorship
Using political crisis that started after the assasination in parliament as pretext, King Alexander I disbanded Parliament, abolished all political parties and syndicates and declared new constitution in 6. january 1929. This event should move siders to authoritarian, political right, closed society, and possibly lower dissent. Also it should change PM to Petar Zivkovic and other ministers (list could be provided if necessary).
Also, the name of the country should be changed (i dont know if it could be done) to Kingdom of Yugoslavia, as it happened in 3. october 1929.

Change of goverment
In 1934. MIlan Stojadinovic, leader of Yugoslav leader union, became PM after he made an coalition with Yugoslav Muslim Organization and Slovenian People Party.(list of ministers could be provided if necessary)

Assasination of King Alexander I
During his visit to France, king Alexander was killed in Marseille along with French foreign minister Louis Barthou, who was mortally wounded. Assasination was carried out by pro-Bulgarian VMRO terrorist Vladimir Cernozemski from Macedonia. He prepared this action with Croatian terrorist Ustasa organization. As a result Hungary was marked as one of the responsable countries as some of those terrorists were trained in Hungary.Head of state will change to Pavle Karadjordjevic, and relations to Hungary should go down for -50.
This event is already included in Iron Cross.

Also you should consider event about attempt of restoration by Charles I Habsbourg in 1921. in which Kingdom of SCS also had a role, as it prepared for eventual armed intervention along Czechoslovakia and Romania.

And for the WW1 there could be an event for separate peace between Serbia and Central Powers, because there actually was some form of negotiations about that. Of course, only if Serbia still holds most of its territory by the end of 1915.
If you find those suggestions useful i could give you some more events regarding foreign policy of Yugoslav state. Maybe partition of Albania between Yug and Italy just after ww1 (there were some ideas and even negotiations about that back in the day). Have you thought about some events related to Greco-Turkish war of 1919-1923. ?

Sounds challenging and promising! Looking forward to it!

What about some events for Russia and Soviet Union, pointing out different possible outcomes of the civil war ?

Once you figure out main course of events ill be more than willing to make you AI switches :)

Thank you!

I'll hopefully be talking to you on Skype very soon. I'm hoping to include every major event and conflict of the interwar period that is at least reasonably relevant to the game, not to mention many ahistorical possibilities along the way. We must make sure though that events fire under plausible conditions.

It's going to be hard to decide how much the AI should be allowed to choose ahistorical decisions and event options. The Interwar should last approximately 18 years. If AI countries even have small chances of ahistorical events it's doubtful we could get some games with a historical WW2. I'm thinking the chances for ahistorical choices by the AI should be very slim.

Absolutely. There may even be events for a non-communist Russia in WW2!

I understand the logic here, but for my part I'm not convinced I agree 100% with it. I suppose it would largely depend on the outcome of WW1, but if it ends in anything other than a peace that Germany considers humiliating, the conditions that led to the WW2 of our timeline seem rather distant. As you say yourself, if the White forces win the Russian Civil War then WW2 could look different. My concern is that if things are starting to deviate from the expected post-war situation, a too-strict AI reaction to events and decisions might feel like artificial shoehorning. Might it not be better to allow for the AIs to be a little less rigid, and thereby help making each game unique? If the purpose of the mod is to provide a game that lasts from WW1 to post-WW2, then I would argue that a replica of our timeline should indeed be merely one possibility among many.

This said, I can appreciate that the more options you include, the more exponentially you increase the amount of work for yourself. I've been idly toying with the idea of a similar mod myself, and then I rapidly decide not to because of just how vast it would have to be; an undertaking of this scale is quite a bewildering prospect. I'm don't know what your overall objectives and ideas are with regards to this, but you might consider liaising with the KR team to do stuff on the Central Powers Victory side of things? Just a thought, but it might save you some work. In case it's of any benefit to you, my own idea, before I was intimidated away, was to essentially have four overarching setups for World War 2. Everything else, except for the really wacky outcomes like Fascist USA or what have you, would ultimately be a permutation of one of these.

Entente victory with Germany going Fascist, as in our timeline.
Entente victory with Germany going Communist, and working with the USSR (If it exists) to spread a Global Revolution etc.]
CP victory that leads to what is essentially the KR world.
CP victory that leads to fascist or protofascist movements taking power in the British and French Empires, and various splits therein as a result.

I won't post too much at once in case I'm not giving you anything useful here, but I've done a little planning into exactly how things play out, with an eye to game balance (so that for instance the USSR + Red Germany alliance doesn't simply overwhelm the entire planet by 1940). If you want me to post any more ideas just let me know.

A few ideas in my head:

German victory

Harsh terms selected

- France gets a chauvinist (most probable name for fascism if it rises in France) government which starts making demands against Germany and Europe. The (German) player can choose whether to back off and throw the proverbial bulldog that is France some equally proverbial liver snaps, thus avoiding bloodshed at the price of creating a VERY insecure balance of power and keeping a dictatorial state around, or to start a second world war and potentially erase Germany's most ancient foe from the map.
- France gets a Communist government hellbent on revenge. This would be very similar to KR in most ways, with several major war scares, the (German or French) player being able to choose whether to declare war or hold off.

Mild terms selected

- France and Britain keep their democratic governments in place, and continue to be hostile to Germany. This will create a very uneasy (almost Cold War-esque) peace, but will most likely not lead to another world war.
- France goes monarchist again, putting Jean III on the throne. This can lead either to a 'war of the houses' between the French and Germans, or a slow rapprochement between the two powers.

Soft terms selected

- Britain keeps its democratic government in place, although the French and the Italians aren't that lucky. The two remaining (semi-) democratic powers in Europe grow closer and closer, and eventually team up to defeat the dictators in France and Italy.
- France and Britain both keep their democracies, leading to either a very early European Union or the rather original idea of a non-ideological WWII.

These are some of my old ideas for a CP victory.

In my opinion in France should starta communist revolution after Germany has defeated France.

Some Ideas for Germany.
- In 1918/1919 the player could choose whether he wants a democratic revolution (historical) or an "Räterepublik" socialist revolution.
- In 1920 (Kapp Putsch) the player can choose whether he wants to keep the current government by a major worker strike or a reactionary government.

If you are interested in doing anything for China I can help out in terms of research/ideas. Lot happening in China after WW1, has the potential to be very exciting and interesting game-play.
