I have encountered an odd situation which I can't remember having seen before.

I send my armies to an enemy province and they start a siege there, later an enemy army encounters mine in a battle which my troops easily win. Then out of nowhere the amount of troops in my sieging forces drops to 0 and the army disappears for no reason. I can repeat this multiple times and don't know what is causing this.

Any ideas?

EDIT: And now it seems my armies lose battles as soon as they start (with full morale and equal number of troops).

I was going to ask before the edit if you get any kind of pop ups about it?

who is commanding? are they loyal?

But this new thing with losing straight off, no clue.

No pop ups or anything.

By the way the battles where my armies lose almost instantly happened after the one in which my armies disappear (which I keep winning).

I paused right after winning the said battle and checked the save. Apparently my army in the province was on 0 morale, but instead of routing they disbanded on my own. Editing the morale up from 0 worked, but as I edited in, I now keep losing every battle I take my troops into. I always have high morale and loyalty and leaders with good martial skills. The armies are relatively large, 5000-10000 on both sides.

If it helps, I am fighting the Arabs and our technological advantages are quite equal in the military field.

The losing battles immediately is due to a bug where any armies that are raised when loading a Save Game actually have 0 morale (it might show 100 morale, but that's false). Morale will rebuild gradually and a few months later they will be fit for battle. Or disband/raise them to get full morale again.

Ah thanks. Editing the morale back to 100 for all regiments raised seemed to work. :)

Like GJScarritt said it's a known bug. Therefore avoid save/reload during the war, or if you can't avoid it then at least wait a moment for moral increase before you attack against the enemy (or do little editing like you have done).

Only other thing which can instantly kill your armies is attrition, but it doesn't happen unless there are huge armies it the same province when month changes.

No solution .. it has always been there, and seems they are unable or unwilling to fix it. Just don't save and reload in the middle of conquest ... unless you have time to wait a few months afterwards until morale goes back up :)
