I have a question about the leaders and combining armies.
First, I wish I could say I like the interface, maybe I just don't fully understand it but, when I get several army (land) units ( or sea for that matter) and then wish to combine them into one unit, the method for doing it seems awkward and cumbersome. Why isn't there a simple 'combine all' way ? ( or is there that I'm somehow missing ?) [and]
How do I decide which leader of all the leaders that seem to sprout from somewhere should lead ? I get annoyed by using the 'reorganize' button function and get this new leader from somewhere when all I really wanted was just to combine the forces I have there. [or] Do I really need to be concerned at all about combining armies under one leader?
I understand that leaders have rank and so I assume that high ranking leaders fight better (duh!) but it seems that every leader I have even after fighting has occurred is always a 'colonel' ?

...and while I'm on a gripe rant - [let me add that this game is AWESOMELY AMAZING and courageously tackles a extremely broad and difficult gaming concept with incredible design and AI - I know the Board game came first (never played it) and provided a platform for development, but still WOW ! WHAT A GAME ! What a great development accomplishment!] ok now that you know I really really like the game I'll continue with one more little complaint/annoyance:

When I sometimes right click on a province to try to get the pop up window to place a trader or colonist ( or other options the window may offer) or maybe it's when I left click trying to select the province for information- I sometimes inadvertently give a change of movement orders to an army/naval group that I had last been dealing with and now have disrupted their progress to where I really intended them to go ! ( Arrrghh ! ) Is it just me being stupid ? ( please no posts saying I'm stupid - I already know that :) ) Wouldn't someway of maybe a confirmation window poping up saying something like 'Are you sure you whish to change units movement orders?' [or] maybe a clearer indication that I still have a unit selected and clicking somewhere will give contextual orders (?).
Sorry for the long post thank you for reading this far and indulging me : )
again ..Hats off to a great game !

I totally agree with you, Llewellyn. If you're stupid, I'm right there with you.

I kept thinking, I can't be the only jack-ss that keeps redirecting his army by mistake. And it's especially annoying when you've planned your movement just so in order to avoid the attrition tallying at the end of the month. I can't tell you how many times I've screwed this up by doing the right click 'oh, I'll just send a diplomat, trader, colonist, etc.' thing.

So, I would wholeheartedly second a nomination for some sort of idiot light that indicated you already have a unit selected when you go to right click. But all in all, despite the sometimes clunky interface (the game does have a pretty large scope, so who's really to cast much blame there) and the abysmal documentation (on this front, there's really no excuse), this game is extraordinary. My sleep and my concentration levels on non-EU matters have dropped through the floor.

(wow, this BB spellcheck thing is great!)

1. hold left mouse utton and drag a frame around units. Then press 'G' on keyborad - all units are merged. Another way is to click right button on units and choose 'merge'

First click LMB, (province will be a little darken), then click RMB.
