Hi all, I had a bit of a play on the asset editor last night and figured it might be worth noting down some of the tips and tricks that we come across in our building so that we can all get better assets out of it!

So, the first thing that I found that was quite useful was with the parking bays. They can be overlayed on each other, which lets you have consecutive disabled bays with a couple of normal ones at the end, which lends the parking a slightly more genuine look.

Another is the use of roads within parks, if you lay a road alongside the park (only tested with half of the road on the park and half outside of the area) then you get extra parking next to it, and can continue the road out of the other side if you wish. The only things to note with this is that you have to leave enough overhang to allow it to properly connect to a road. So two squares will connect to a two-lane road. This does also mean that it can only be used with the roads that it is designed for, and it can lead to some locations not being viable for the park placement, though I've yet to figure the reason why.

Another that I've seen around has been the creation of modular parks to create a larger overall structure.

Example of road within a park, note the blend between the road and texture in the nearer park, and the slight grass visible with the further parks, which are merely plopped on said road.

Has anyone else come across anything useful?

How did you decide what values to give to your "parks" ? In-game the stats are hidden, and you can't open the CO made parks in the asset editor to compare. I want to make sure my parks have the correct costs, upkeep, and "entertainment value" as the CO parks.

Would like to know that as well..

At the moment, the only stats I've altered are the tourist values, and as it stands, rather than altering them per se, I've just altered the ratio of them. So instead of the default: 50:50:50 the park above is 75:50:25 (Low:Med:High), total is the same, so game play shouldn't be affected too much, just having the emphasis on low wealth visitors rather than an even balance . . . how that theory plays out in reality however, I don't have the patience to find out :p I'll save making any drastic changes until I have a day to knuckle down and test these sorts of things, or wait until someone else does ;)

How do i re-select already planted asset?
For example, i want to move a barrel...

You can't move stuff as for as I know. I always have to delete stuff and re-place it. They need to work on the bulldoze tool as well. I noticed if some things are real close together, when you delete one, sometimes it will delete both items. Probably just a bug.
Anyone know of a way to import models from the Industrial zone to make a park out of? There is a great industrial zone building that looks like a shipping yard with shipping containers and stuff in it. Would be great to make as a plopable building.

I find really annoying the limitation of props per park.
I was trying to give a grimy look to an industrial high occupancy area I have in the citiy by making a junkie park, but unfortunately, with the stuff available in the game is not as sketchy as I wanted it to be. Also I had to chose between fencing it around or adding more grabage to the floor.

I wanted to add some patches of grass, but I couldnt find the grass tool...

That park looks awesome Willie! I subscribed to it. Yeah, the limitation is a problem. Hopefully someone can mod it and make more than 64 props usable. We need more props to place too. Way to little to choose from at the moment. Too bad I know nothing about making models, or I would make stuff to add.

Here is the link to the Construction Yard I made, in case anyone is interested.

You may want to try making it into a modular park, it'll take a little more planning to make sure things line up and look right, but if you break it up into three slivers, you immediately triple the number of props you can put in.
