Revealed Footage Shows Dwarves in Their Natural Habitats

NEW YORK – October 18, 2012 – The dwarf* is generally known to be a fickle creature, it lives far down below the crust of the Earth and has an insatiable appetite for treasure. They are not as fixated on gold and loot as one may think though. Quite the contrary, the dwarf is largely misunderstood and can actually be very accepting of those who have not amassed a considerable wealth of gold and precious stones. To prove this, Paradox Interactive recently deployed a video team of wildlife observers to capture footage of the dwarf in its home environment; this peek into the life of a dwarf has now been uploaded for the entire world to see. Dwarf experts, also known as game developers, were also interviewed to help people understand the enigma that is the dwarf.

Utilizing a combination of strategy and management, A Game of Dwarves gives players full reign over a dwarven settlement as they dig, build, and conduct research to expand their underground empire. With a careful hand, players will need to level up their weak dwarflings and transform them into brave warriors, master craftsmen, and diligent diggers as they scour for rare resources hidden in the depths. Defend your dwarves from terrible beasts living in the uncharted regions of the world and make sure to adapt your strategy and tactic because deep down underground, you’ll never know what you’ll bump into.

A Game of Dwarves can be pre-ordered at leading digital distribution platforms for $9.99, releases worldwide on October 23. Find out more about the pre-order here: http://www.agameofdwarves.com/buy

*(In folklore or fantasy literature) a member of a mythical race of short, stocky human-like creatures who are generally skilled in mining and metalworking.

Really nice touch with the underground galleon :)

is that ship predesigned or can we use those wooden tiles too?

Hi jedi72it!

That Ship is not predesigned, and yes you can use those wooden tiles :) Those Cannons are stolen from a bunch of Goblins however! Why are the Dwarfs playing Pirates you may ask? That I can't answer...they just arrrrrgh! (I can only apologize for that joke :p)

ahaha gotcha

now that you said that, another question arises, will the users be able to post photos of their "creations" and maybe use a common plaza, like the Steam workshop to share them, for example?? more awesomness will be digged out, i am sure :D

Actually i am not on facebook...but yea...i know sooner or later i will have to..but thanks anyway

I am guessing the new Game Hub on Steam will provide this feature, you can just press your print-screen-button in steam and than trough steam post it on A Game Of Dwarfs Game Hub for everyone to enjoy your dwarfs greatness! Will be really interesting to see what people will build :)

Yes, the new Game Hub, i see.

Indeed, it will be fun to watch other's underground cities....i am curious to see how far i will go with very scarce resources...something like a Moria invasion.

can we "replace" blocks? so i.e. you mine the dirt and put stone back? im already planning a dwarven throneroom in minecraft for use when this comes out and its valuable to know if i need to dig it that way or can just empty the area.

You can not put it back. You can build walls and bridges though. But you should be planning your excavations carefully.

that sucks. well, carefull planning it is! any chance putting back blocks(for a high recource cost) will be added later?

I can't go in to specific details on what will happen in the future, but this is something we have discussed at Zeal. I realize it seems like a simple matter at first glance, but there is a few kinks to iron out in the game design area when it comes to putting blocks back, and we took the decision to not put this in the game at release. Careful digging it is. :)
