Finally got the game this week after much anticipation. Unfortunately it has arrived just as I've been sent off by my office to work away from home for a month or so - knowing that the game is here, waiting for me, but that I can only play it at the weekend has to be the most exquisite torture...

Anyway I have a couple of questions based on playing the tutorial scenario:

i) How do you merge armies/fleets? The first game I played, I found that by right-clicking on the strength bars under the icon when it was selected gave me a context sensitive menu that included the merge command; but playing the game again I can't get this menu at all. The game thinks I'm ordering the army to move to the province its already in and flashes a little red cross and bleeps at me. This one's driving me crazy, so any explanation as to why I saw one behaviour on Friday night and another on Saturday afternoon would be appreciated.

ii) Looking at the population growth item for the provinces and colonies, I see that it says 12% - however when I watched the population levels of a couple of colonies at month end they both ticked up by a single person when I was expecting increases of up to six people (depending upon colony size). Similarly when I looked at Ulster's population it was ticking up at a larger figure (about 10 IIRC) but it still seemed a bit low given its population at the time. Is this 'percentage' figure actually just telling me the number of months in a year that I'll get a fixed increase (which would appear to be 1 for colonies) rather than being a true percentage?

All in all I'm having fun with the game so far. It puts some strain on my generic 4MB graphics card on occasion, but nothing I can't live with. One thing though - having what would appear to be a fairly lengthy tutorial without a save option is a fairly significant useability niggle. I've played it twice now (for several hours each time) and haven't had a sniff of the Catalunyans - I guess I need to be a little more goal-oriented and hold off on colonising Britain...

You just use the left button to create a box which you use to select both the armies, a bit like when you select multiple files in windows at the desktop. Then you get a new option which should be merge (it's zuzammen in german :) . BTW If you've played any 'normal' RTS you can use the same keyboard shortcuts here to create 'teams' and such...

I beleive they at some time found out that the percentages seemed right if you assumes that the population increases that amount over a 10 year period, i.e. a population of 800 with 10% increase will be 880 in ten years. But I'm not 100% sure of this.

Also, about grouping armies and fleets, left click the province/sea square they're on, then right click the units. The Merge option should then be on the list.
