I recently played CK2 for the first time last night and enjoyed it (even tho I lost) so this morning I decided to try out the Elder Kings mod for CK2 since I am a huge TES fan. The mod download didn't work so I tried some light troubleshooting but it wasn't working so I just decided to play some vanilla base game some more. Unfortunately, when I tried to play it (after fully unsubscribing and deleting the mod file) the launcher screen was fully white, then black, and I could not click anything but the "X" button to close the page. No matter what trouble shooting or fix I try absolutely nothing works to fix it. Uninstalled and reinstalled, uninstalled fully deleted the steam game file and the paradox interactive file and reinstalled. Nothing worked and I am just stumped on what to do so I decided to post here. Any help would be greatly appreciated, will be checking up on the forum post often and for a bit so feel free to inquire about anything related to it that may help in my endeavors to play the game again.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings 2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.

All the best!

Did all of this multiple times except for the antivirus app, I will try it again though.

Alright just adding every type of exception for "ck2game.exe" worked, and I successfully launched it. now how can I download mods in the future without nuking the game files and having to do this again.
