I'm having a strange perpetual audio bug that I cannot get rid of. I'm playing Fantasia, and up to year 1639. Suddenly I'm getting a horrible din in the background, some kind of warped mix of the music and SFX blended together at high volume. It keeps going and going in a repeated loop. It just began in the game, I've had no other problems so far. It doesn't occur when I begin other games. The normal music and sound effects play in the background as well.
I have tried turning the music off. It goes away but the sound remains. I have tried turning the FX volume to zero. They go away but the sound remains. I have muted the CD audio function but the sound remains. I have rebooted several times to try and clear it to no success.
I am running US version 1.07c
Athlon 700 with 256 ram.
MSI motherboard, the bios is at the latest update.
GeForce DDR (Nvidia 6.31 drivers)
Sound Blaster Live Platinum (most recent drivers)
Windows 98
DirectX 8.0a
DVD Rom
HP 9100 CD read/writer
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a solution, beyond turning my speakers off? The FX become critical to this excellent game.
