I propose a new game to be played on variable nights of the week at first.

From replies ive got so far i think Saturday night is the first night we can get every one there at 8pm. This game will be played on two nights of the week as well as taking over from the sunday game for a few weeks.

Myself along with the rest of the board will discuss the current issues under discussion in our other thread for implementation into this game along with other rules to keep us honest. How ever i do also like the free DOW's dates for all as this brings suprise back into the game something that has sorely been lacking of late. Suprise is a major component of any attack.

So pick your nations here.

Axis
Germany -Mike
Italy - Munster
Japan - Gunship
Nationalist Spain
Romania

Allies.
UK - Majorball?
US - Bumblee Bee.
USSR - Joel?
Canada
Australia.

Updated rules to follow, maybe our group leader can help out here by emailing me a copy of the current ones to be amended by the board.

I thought it was wednesday night we were playing?

Unfortunately I can't make this Saturday night, (most other Sat nights are ok) so if thats when this one is starting I'll have to miss out :(

If on the other hand we play Wednesday, or even Sunday (given Omni's commitments) I'd like to put my hand up for a sideshow nation - I'm still getting the hang of all this. In other words, the USA, Soviets, or maybe Japan. (I can beat up on the AI for some more practise at first)

The 3 prefs are USA, USSR, Japan and any is fine. :)

OK joel, only reason we made it Saturday is becuase major cant make wednesday this week. Might have to make it a sunday start for this week then. Only prob i have is i cant play till 8pm sunday due to work, oh well we will sort some thing out, keep a close eye here to see if times change.

Well if both Joel and Major can make Wednesday 7pm then we can start then. That will give us 6 players and thats all we need, any others can play minors.

So set your clocks. 7pm Wednesday start.

Well it looks like you might have to go USSR again joel, or if you want take the UK if you want more action.

We have given USA to BB, and Japan to Gunship as there probably around the same skill. I know you are still new but you are also a good player. I would like to take germany and give them a go with some new things ive learnt. If you dont feel up to the USSR opposing your's truely then maybe major can take them i can get some revenge.

Japan is tricky to balance and take alot of fiddling, but very enjoyable. Resources are its main issue in the first 6 months or so, but once that is under control and china resources are not a problem.

As Japan there are alot of ways to buildup. Last game i chose to do Factories the first year so i got higher production over longer peroid. This causes a delay in china but i wanted moutain troops only as well, which takes time to research. Having moutain troops gives you the option to use those troops as storm troopers for invasions as well as all the land combats. They also move quickly through those damm jungles in the pacific espicaly with engineer brigades.

Puppeting a few smaller chinas as well helps keep US gearing until later and also means you dont need to build any more garrision troops just move the ones from your islands at the start to china. With your army built and enough garrisions already, come end of china or there abouts that means all IC can go into airpower and naval power, with some upgrades to the army to follow later.

Japan starts weak, but alot of potential, i wont say what im building in our sunday game. All ill say is that it will be one of the largest navies and airforces seen in our games to date. Hehehe.

I got a theory on USA as well, I think I might try some uber IC building for a target IC of at least 500...:D

7pm Eastern tonight right?

Yes 7pm tonight Melbourne time. OK now time for an hour nap before i conquere the world.

Out of interest any of you guys into the Civilization series. IF yes then Civ IV comes out on the 24th of this month in the US that is. I just pre-ordered my copy, express post, im a sucker for having things quickly.

The Civilisation series is awesome, can't wait to get my hands on Civ 4.

I hated Civ III so I will need to hear some pretty good things about the new one before I'd consider it.

I'm stuck at work, and my fragging car wont start. I might be late :(

Here are some rules that me and BB have come up with to address some of the groups conerns.
There are rules here designed to stop an exploit through beligerance by bringing in lots of allies before war making axis belegerance way over 100 and runining the gearing events series and the game. This would also make possible US entry to be tied to beligerance as it would be the Axis fault for allowing it to go so high.

1. The US cannot enter the war or allies until Japan DOWs on it or after Dec 7th 1941. This is voided if Axis Beligerance rises high enough for DOW, then may do so if they wish.

2. Before the DOW event no more then 2 minor nations can be added to the allied team. After DOW if is open season.

3. Once a human player joins an alliance it cannot leave, unless that alliance looks like being defeated then it may switch sides if it wishes.

I think this should address ou conerns and fix US entry to how it is ment to work, and stop people leaving alliances just before war.

I'm not sure I agree with limiting the US in that way. It's perfectly possible for the Axis to keep below their belligerence level by releasing puppets. The fact that Japan conquers all of China and installs puppet regimes doesn't give the US any event reason to respond. Japan controls direclty or indirectly a quarter of the world's population? Doesn't matter. Germany has invaded the British Isles? Doesn't matter, because they kept their belligerence low by releasing Scotland as a puppet.

To be honest it sounds like under this rule the Axis get a blank cheque to do whatever they want before 1942, so long as they keep beligerence low, which is relatively easy to do. I think you need some additional conditions as to when the US can enter the war- like for instance a successful Sealion, or if India is captured, or if a large number of South American nations join the Axis.

And as for 2, will there be any comparable restriction on the number of allies the Axis can get? Or can the Axis just get Portugal, Iran, Siam, Argentina etc, as well as their normal central European partners without any restrictions whatsoever? It's doable if you trade hard enough for cash. Look at what Koniev did in your other game.

A limitation needs to be placed on either:

-The conditions that allow the US to join the war.
-Slider moves

Because as of now the US can just enter in 1939 after 4 slider moves...
