All those who cant get a game in the other group drop by here and I'll try and organise us up a game, pls post location and connection speed.

I assume we will be playing evenings a few nights a week.

I have a 1.5/64kbps ADSL connection, which is good for playing the game but not for hosting, I think we need 128 upload or higher for 4 players.

Only Aussie and Kiwis need apply :)

I live in Sydney and am currently in the process of upgrading to a 1.5/256 adsl connection.

Have never played MP before though only SP.

I'd have to work it around work though.

PS if you are online now please PM me, if possible, i would like to check that my settings [on my router] are correct.

I have no idea how to set up connection settings, I get mine set up by a friend... :(

I think that my setting are correct, i just need to test them.

I will start up HOI2 and go to valkyrienet if you could meet me there sometime in the next 15 min or so

Looks like yous are on the right track now, i will direct anyone who wants to play a new MP game to this thread for yous. Hopefully we can get two Regular Aussie groups going of around 6 players each, would be great. Let me know if you need help with anything.

I'd be interested in joining a game. I have ADSL 512/128 so I might not be in the best position to host, however I can provide my ICQ and see what we can get started.

Additional MP Players

Count me in - my ICQ number is 344549585 - trying to run a test with Mad Mac sometime this am. I am only on 256/64, so unable to host a game.
Lets hope we can get it happening.

All, I will be around tonight at about 9pm or so I reckon (no gurantees though) so maybe we can get a game started, it appears 4 is the absolute maximum with a 128kbps upload host. We are all in OZ and all on ADSL so it should be ok :)
 
I might be interested in joining provided noone has any objections, and depends on the times you plan on playing. But I should probablly not, school and all.....

Just let me know if anyone has any objections or not.
 
Well that was both a positive and a negative experience, seems we can play but I had lag problems... I will ask around and find out how I can free up some memory to speed things up a bit.

I can play every night during the week after about 8:30pm eastern time :)
 
Heya,

Hopefully our crash issues will sort themselves out -

I can be around monday evening, tuesday evening, thursday day, and either wednesday evening or thursday evening (not sure yet, probs wednesday) this week.

Next week, probably similar times, though adding friday day, and mabye even all weekend apart from friday night.

Well it certainly was interesting, especially playing the UK for the first time.

My ADSL connection is in the process of being upgraded to 1.5/256, maybe when it finally happens we can try 5 or 6 mp.

I'm good after 8:30 as well. Hopefully our lag issues will sort themselves out, but a good start after all. I'll be on ICQ after work to see if we can sort ourselves out.
 
All try and get on ICQ tonight at around 8:30 eastern. Though I may be late depending on the behaviour of my son at bedtime ;)

I think we should restart and have Ger, Su, Uk and Italy... imo Japan is like a third leg without a USA player.
 
MP attempt with 256/64 ADSL

hi all - tried an MP game with Gezeder, Trelling and Bumble Bee tonight - the good news is that we all ended up getting the game up and running - with text messaging across HOI 2 too ---- bad news is that some of us only have the 256/64 connection. The other thing we found is that other internet chat programs like ICQ clash with HOI 2 - so they all need to be turned off.

Anyway - we are all getting organized with 512/128 con - so hopefully we will get running before the end of the month.....

Sorry I couldn't make it. Work got in the way. Should be ok for tomorrow as long as nothing blows up in the morning.
 
Well that was both frustrating and exciting.

I checked with a few pings and traces after we decided to quit and found that telstra was having major problems with congestion on the national backbone from 7.30pm to 11.00pm.

This problem was clear by 11.30pm

This is actually not fully due to user load but in reality stems from about 2 years of non investment in the hardware which will [now] take about 3 years to fix.

The fact that we managed to connect and get the game going at all was a miracle.

I'm told that persistence pays off in the long term, and we will get a game going [again]
