I might write add a story later but as it is my first aar ill just add some screenshots with a line or two about them.

Erwin Rommel quote which i find quite appropriate for this aar
"If I had Australian infantry and German armour, I could rule the world, but no one man could control such a force."

Expansion is necessary for my Australia to survive. Industry, research and a modern military requires all resources to be growing. Weak chinese provinces are the best targets for Australia as it does not have a major affect on its starting alliances.

With Australia now able to field larger armies a garrison is left in China and an expedition force is sent to reinstate the republic of spain after its defeat to nationalist enemies. Quick gains by Australia in the south of Spain sparks German intervention which drives Australia back to the defences of recently captured but british owned Gibraltar. With no escape but a good defensive position Australia calls on its allies, namely the UK to aid in the defence of the western allies first front against germany.

Surrounded by 30 german divisions with only 18 australian ones on the field, there is a strong concern that all these men will be lost if the germans succeed. Finally 3 begium divisions answer the call with landings on gibraltar, this is followed by a nepalese division and then eventually a gradual buildup of the UK divisions. With a total of 50 allied divisions stationed in gibraltar alone Australian forces are now able to be deployed elsewhere. All non mainland nationalist spain possessions are quickly captured by Australian Marines.

Manpower becomes a huge concern as the small Australian population (historically 7 million at the time) cannot field the many divisions required to compete with major powers. Even with research and policy changes manpower will still be a problem.

With limited reinforcements available from the homeland. The Chinese garrison is reduced to half its initial size. Realistically the Japanese empire would be able to overwhelm the asian possessions.

Now with increased manpower, the Australian expedition will now be able to begin its invasion on The Italian peninsular. Generals predict that the germans will not be able to field any kind of threat to us as their attentions are focused on the USSR the spanish front and the newly created american front in norway (screenshot later,USA only declared war on germany, not japan).

A successfull invasion and defeat of the italians has given Australia the option to liberate the italians, however the threat to them from Germany is still considerable, it will occur later.

With the addition of 20% to the Australian Industry from Overseas gains, Australia is now able to field 4 research teams (up from 2).

The beggining of the end for germany seems near as the 5th Front (including USSR) is created when the USA invades German occupied France.

The next 4 or so years i see a war between the allies and the ussr with an intact Japan tiping the scales for one side or the other :eek:.

Ill update as i play a bit more. Probably a bit boring for you guys with it not being a major power but minors can definently tip the grand scales.
 
Nice AAR. How'd you conquer China and Italy and hold both fronts :eek: . When I play Australia I feel awfully short of conquering chances due to my no-risk taking policy :D and the lack of army units

Minor country AARs can be and are often the most interesting.

The chinese front is paper thin. If my relations went bad with japan or i would definently lose the possessions there. I have about 5 garrison units and 2 infantry 1945 there (1945 inf in 1944 :D). My alliance with the USA may prove to be bad if they are forced into a war with Japan.

Im trying to get some heavy equiptment in like tanks and halftracks so i can stand a chance over there.

With the impressive victories in Italy, Australian forces use the momentum to take the fight to the Overextended Germans. Small gains are made but the axis nation of hungary begins to pose a small threat to unguarded border territories. An operation involving 6 infantry divisions brings a quick end to this nation and allow for their liberation.

Also noticing that the gains into german territory allowed for the Austrian nation to be liberated that is also as well. Its Austria-Hungary all over again just like in ww1. :rolleyes:

The American advance into france is pushed back by a desperate german army which while allows for a greater Australian advance (due to the divisions focused on the american landings) a border soon grows between the mighty soviet union and the Australian forces. This is notably seen when a sucessfull Australian attack on the german province of dortmund goes to waste as USSR forces occupy it before australian forces arrive.

Additional Australian gains in german occupied territory allows for the liberation of the luxembourg nation and also the liberation of 2 belgium territories.

Australian forces are now within reach of Paris. Minor German resistance is a very major issue to australian divisions and their relatively small front of 3 divisions per territory is tough on the Australian advance. Capturing paris combined with the recently captured essex is key to the Long lasting influence of Australian forces.

Another issue is the major power post-germany. Australian forces have sealed the southern parts of germany and a moderate portion of western germany, but the captial remains encircled by USSR forces.

Alot has changed since the inital breakout in Nationalist Spain. German and Spanish counter attacks have pushed back the americans to the beaches of oveido. However a huge influx of commonwealth divisions retake most of those losses, only to be halted at bilbao and huesca. If these territories fall, the German defeat is sealed.

The possibility of a australian superpower with dominans over europe is a fun thought!
 
Well i have come to a halt. Basically i have defeated all of german in france with some impressive tactics. Berlin Remains encircled by the USSR with them doing nothing. This just halted the game dramatically. I enlisted the services of Austria-Hungary to help defend the USSR border along with the Australian forces. My China Guard Army was given its first 2 armored divisions which gave it enough power to invade and defeat Communist China (territories going to the UK)

I got to release this nation i had not heard of before called Euskadi, with no politicians or techteams. It resides on parts of spain and france

I would really like an opinion from you guys on what to do next. Me declaring war on the USSR is not an option and i am not sure how i will fare against Japan. Also i am wondering why the USSR do not finish off berlin with their massive amount of divisions. This delays my ownership of all european territories.

Another note is that i really believe that i could achieve the highest victory point score in the next two years. i am 30 behind the USSR and invading japan may be able to bring that in my favour. A war with japan would require all of my divisions leave europe vulnerable to communists.
 
Preparations are being made to be ready for any agression by major powers. The great people of China have agreed to stop any partisan activity. Our improvements to their infrastructure are much appreciated and they know that our major role in the world is beneficial to them. This has allowed for the relief of 100 manpower from garrison to be transformed into a new 6 division force of the latest mechanical technology included level 5 armour/motorised
level 4 mechanical.

Relations are begging to deteriorate with Japan as they declare war on the communist chinese. The chinese population under our government suggests that we respond to this with force. Currently this is not an option due to the 100 manpower being depleted. from the new force. Manpower is mainly needed to create a large enough fleet to manage the japanese fleet.

War-torn europe has destroyed the lives of many. Some of these take refuge in Australia. This boost our manpower by 30. :D With the fairly low manpower demands of a navy this 30 extra will help indeed with creating a navy that matches the Japanese

A Japanese advance into Communist China sparked just enough beligerance for the Australian Forces to declare war on Japan. Our modern fleet would be ready in a couple of weeks but for now a standing fleet of 12 vessles would have to make do.

Took out 5 ships in an indo china port. A massive Japanese Flotilla counter-attacks and takes out 3 Australian heavy cruiser. Forcing a retreat back to the Hainan dock. The land war however is being dominated by the Allies. Japan is stretched all over micronesia and mainland asia, leaving both a weak defence in these areas and practically nothing but the navy defending the japanese islands. Peace envoys are sent to Australia to negotiate an alliance. All rejected.

Australia is a world power with peoples from all over the world serving under one banner. Facists have no place in this Australian world. Australia controls the most victory points as of June 1st 1947.

The Modernised Australian Navy is completed and enters the theatre with naval patrols around the japanese islands. Along with the supporting fleets already in combat it claims many japanese ships. (You may not see it in the picture but it includes 2 advanced and 1 heavy adv. carriers)

Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan are under Australian control. The clean up operation begins in micronesia to make an annexation possible.
 
Japan has been annexed. Getting sick and tired of waiting for berlin to be captured. I saved the game and took control of the soviet union for a minute, quickly took berlin, annexed germany and went back to Australia. Problem is during the short period that the AI was controlling australia, they reorganised the army quite a bit which took a bit of time to fix.

Liberated Korea, Soon become divided into north and south. North not beligerant enough to be attacked yet.


Suddenly the fools at Washington declare war on the soviet union. Strange enough they have crap all european and asian presence. Desperately needing more european allies i bargain with france trading national provinces of theirs in my possession for their colonial possesions in asia and the pacific. They now once again own the northern part of france.

The dutch and belgium forces are being hard pressed defending their borders but are suprisingly doing a good job. My german possessions are being defended by australian, austrian and hungarian units. The hungarians do not have any decent leadership which is a shame. The austrians however are doing a great job with a total of 10 units in europe and an additonal 6 being recalled from indochina.

An invasion force is being prepared in asia to take the russian possession in east asia. A total of 20 divisions ready to fight in Asia.

Then BOOM 1948 hits and scenario ends... :mad:

The biggest challenge of the whole scenario and it ends in a matter of 1 month.

Anyway the "allies" win with Australia having the most VP's out of the whole world. A minor power becoming the winner is pretty cool.

China, Italy, Germany(more because of russia) and Japan were defeated by A country with an initial 30 odd IC, 2 research teams, low manpower and low tech.

Is there any mod that allows me to continue this war with russia by getting rid of this 1948 finish?

I know not many people read minor AAR's but for those who did thanks.
 
You can download the unlimited time patch from Stony road, allows you to play on. Of course, there aren't many new events.

nice to see Australia taking a more active role in international politics... :D
