I just purchased the game and installed patch 1.2 and the game constantly crashes at the save game on July 1. Previoiusly with patch 1.1 (without the save game turned on) the game constanly crashed but I was able to play several years between crashes. I have the latest version of Direct X installed (with the CD) and I have updated my video drivers. I had no problems with NA. Any suggestions.

I'm not really sure; you're saying this happens with any new Rome game you start? Or is it only games that were started under 1.1?

I guess I'd start by doing a complete reinstall: move any valued saves elsewhere then uninstall the game. Now manually delete the game directory (this is important).

Now install the game again; if you have Vista, do not use the suggested path (c:\program file\paradox ... etc) but make a new one like c:\games\rome . Once done apply the 1.2 patch immediately, and start a fresh game and see if the problem happens. If it does not, try one of the save games that was causing it before (assuming it was started under 1.2 not 1.1).

Still crashing

I removed, reinstalled and then downloaded and installed the 2nd patch. The game worked and I played for about 30 years and then I had a corrupted menu and within a couple of minutes the game crashed. When I reloaded the game all the save game files (auto save and old auto saved) listed what appeared to be a rebel flag with only a Jan 1 date and no year. I started a new game and it crashed within about 2 months. Help.
