Summary

Automatic upgrade removes ship name

Platform

Steam

Operating System

Windows 11

Game Version

Countenance v1.16.6.ea80 (679e) (S)

Enabled DLC

  • All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?

No

Description

When a ship design is automatically upgraded (as in, when you pick a MIO upgrade which auto-applies) the name is lost.

The ship defaults to the "None" namelist. This is visible in the production interface.

Save attached.

In fleet "Battle 2" observe the last two destroyers. Built with the same template and namelist. The upgrade from A1 to A2 removed the name. The namelist itself is not removed from the template but the ship is built without the name.

Steps to Reproduce

As the US, upgrade a Naval MIO which has ships under construction assigned to that MIO using a namelist. In my case i was using the Historical destroyer namelist and the Norfolk Naval Yard MIO.

Are you playing on a save from the previous/older version of the game

No

Have thus tried it again, this time with Sweden. Same results. No mods. I had the dynamic version numbering off on for the US, on for Sweden. No change.

It skips the name and applies it to the next ship in the queue.

To clarify: the issue here is that subsequent produced models end up with names like Jagare 1, instead of the historical list?

When the MIO is upgraded and the automatic upgrade checkbox is ticked in, any ship under construction will have the name erased. It will use the default for the type rather than the one from the name list.

Whatever you're using to add the MIO changes from the upgrade is not accounting for the name list.

However, only the one that was under construction at the time of the MIO upgrade. Subsequent ships uses the name list correctly.
