I'm playing 1.04 and I've been crashing to Windows a lot. I changed the avi folder to skip the movies but I still crashed to Windows. I was playing the other night and I crashed every three or four months! I turned off autosave and I haven't had a crash since then. Is there a connection or is this just a coincidence?

Must be hardware dependant, I have 1.04 and have only had one CTD ingame. I do get CTD when exiting 50% of the time.

Probably just a coincidence, I'm using autosave, but almost never get CTDs when playing, I do have this weird crash that resets my desktop to 800x600 (even though I use 1024x768 in game) and makes windows think that i don't have directX installed when I exit the game. Happens 2 out of 3 times. The only workaround I've found is to reload a saved game while playing a campaign, 1 out of 2 times this will cause the game to CTD without reseting my desktop or making windows go crazy. It's weird, but it works for me.

I'm sorry you're having so many problems, I wish I could help. I myself have no problems with autosave (or at least, if I do, it's so infrequent I haven't yet made the mental connection). The game crashes for me too, periodically, but it must be something else in my case.

Autosave is very cpu eating, that could cause your system to crash. Which win are you running and are you running other apps/services as well?
On every game I play the first thing I do after installation is make sure autosave is off.
