After the complete subjugation of the Turks and Eastern Europe (Where I had claims to, anyway) I eagerly awaited an event that would give me another set of casus belli shields, claims to the Holy Land, more of Eastern Europe, and North Africa, and eventually, maybe even more lands that Byzantium hadn't held since the height of it's power. And I waited. And waited. And waited. And checked the event file. And damn. :(

Considering I'm playing the Fantasy version as it is (What's the difference, if I may ask?) I don't see the problem with at LEAST giving me the claims they had in the vanilla campaign. I mean, really, if the Byzantine Empire became the most powerful country in the world like they are in my campaign, can you look me straight in the face and tell me NO ONE in Byzantium would say, "Hey, we rock again. Let's get our stuff back, man." Perhaps not in those words, but still. :p

Cores are there to indicate a populace that submits without much of a fight to your claims. I have no doubt at all that if Byzantium had managed to make a late return to those lands who, after Byzantine dominance, had gone through major changes, there would be major resistance. No cores

So that's why the OE has all those shield all over the Balcans...

First they didn't find that mouch of resistance in many cases, second I think is to "force" AI to expand in the Balkans.

Any Hungarians or Serbs on the forum who would like to comment on that...?

I know why OE got their shields, and I try to imagine what an AI BYZ would "do". A powerful BYZ would go after Jerusalem.
This is an old discussion on the forum though.

just because they did conquer it and byzantine didn't come back doesn't mean that i couldn't have happened. hell, spain could have successfully invaded england and how would that have messed things up? if spain took over england how would things have been different? what events should not fire? what ones that have not been made should be? likely scenarios ought to be addressed

Yeah, I`m very against, if you thought I think otherwise then it`s just my poor English skills :p

P.S. I`m even not sure that sentence above make any sense, It`s apparently too complicated for me :p

I just didn't get where you got that Justinian reconquest from, nobody on this thread argued that it should be implemented.
Again, I know the reasons for the OE AI GC shields.

I still think that since this is the FANATASY campaign one could as well make it entertaining for those who play the game.
It's totally irrelevant that it's unrealistic that the Byzantine Empire would rise to their former glory - IT'S A FREAKING FANTASY CAMPAIGN!
If the idea is that there would be revolts then make events for them - like it's been done in the Knights campaign. I am pretty damn certain that the world would find a DoW (and consequent conquest) from a reawakened Byzantine Empire a lot more acceptable (in terms of the bad boy cost that will be received) than if a megalomaniac little island of knights suddenly decided it was time go beserk.

In short: I see absolutely no reason why shields should not be obtainable on outremer. - And when they were conquored everyone and their aunt would only find it natural that The Second Rome tried to retake Justinians Africa - of course they would. Just like Russia suddenly decided it was time reunite all Russians and Orthodox lands. I hear no complaints from 'the realists' that Russia gets claims on lands she never controlled before.

Russia conquered all those lands. And the shields on lands they didn't conquer until the 19th century are being removed.

yeeees ... that's why they get them in the REGULAR campaign.
What I am playing is the FANTASY campaign.
In FANTASY things can happen that did not happen in real life.
Therefore Byzantium could get shields on lands they lost earlier, because it is FANTASY.
Just like the Knights do in their fantasy campaign.
And as I said, there is less fantasy in a reawakened Byzantine Empire conquering the holy lands, than an order of hospital knights.

So as I said, there is NO valid argument for not incuding extra shields for the Byzantine Empire.

I agree with you on this point. I really don't mind who does what in fantasy events as long as the ai does not have access to them while I playing another nation. Who am I to deny someone elses pleasure. By the way, you do know all the BYZ events mentioned have already been scripted and posted on the board don't you? If you look in the old...old EEP and AGC threads, they are there for you add in yourself.

Stop whining and play the game. I don't hear French players complaining that they don't casus belli shields on Charlegmagne's old empire, or danes that they don't get them on England....
