Does diplomatically annexing someone raise your badboy level?
I am currently playing a game as Russia and I can't figure out why I have the highest badboy value in the game. I started the game by capturing Ingermanland. Then I waited 10 years and annexed Kazan. Waited ten years, annexed Golden Horde. Waited about 20 or 30 years and annexed Astrakhan. Since then I have not started another war, and it has been about 40 years. Recently my ally Denmark declared war on the Netherlands (obviously a retarded badboy DoW) which brought us into a war with Netherlands, England, Scotland, and Sweden. I got off to a slow start because I was not anticipating a war with Sweden. They managed to defeat my army and capture Ingermanland. Denmark made peace with England, giving them Iceland and Jutland. At that point I realized that Denmark was losing badly and that I needed to gain some huge victories in the east if Denmark was to be saved as a viable power. I went into full war mood, spending every dime I had on troops. We recaputed Ingermanland and took Karelia by storm. Winter set in so we took up winter quarters. With almost the entire Swedish army in the west trying to conquer Denmark, I was sure that in the spring I would be able to capture 2 or 3 Swedish provinces, thus saving Denmark. During the winter, we received word that Denmark had capitulated to Sweden, ceding to them 3 provinces.
Immediately after this an alliance of Poland, France, Pussia, and Pskov declared war on me. I could not defeat the Prussians or the Poles despite the fact that I had better land tech and more troops. I had to cede a province to Poland.
I was very disappointed that I was not able to save my vassal and only true friend in the world. I had wanted Denmark to become a strong ally that I could count on in the future; but with her reduced to the status of a 4th rate power, I decided it was probably best for us both if we united under the Czar. I diplomatically annexed Denmark.
Those are my activities to date. Elsewhere in the world, Spain has annexed more countries than I can remember, including creating a North African empire by annexing Tunisia, Algiers, and capturing land from the Mamelukes. Turkey has just been whoopin up on everyone, perhaps doubling their territory. Poland is having a great game, gaining provinces in every war they participate in, which are many. They even took a province from me.
Based on the way I had carefully spaced my conquests and not conquered anyone in the past 40 years, combined with the aggressive actions of Spain, Turkey, and Poland, I was certain that I could not have been the 'baddest' in the game. So after my session last night I checked it: Spain has a badboy value of only 7! Poland is 10. And I'm... 14!!
So my question is, does diplomatically annexing raise badboy? Cuz unless I just got a huge badboy hit for annexing Denmark before I stopped playing, the computer cheats bigtime with badboy.
