BATTELTECH - blackscreen on starting the game

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
iv just got the game and installed it but when i go to play it its goes though all the logos at the start but after it gets to the skull logo i get nothing but a blacksceen and a FPS counter in the top left hand corner

intel i7-6700k
32gb ram
windows 10
nividia 980ti sli

Steps to reproduce the issue
just starting the game does it every time for me

Same black screen but I don't get logos...just music. I can hit esc and can tell a screen changes but still black.

Interesting, I get no FPS counter, just PRESS ESC TO SKIP in top left and no sound at all

Try going to %Battletech installation directory%\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\Plugins and rename AVProVideo.dll to any other name. That disables cutscenes though.

Are you guys by any chance using a Windows N version? (That's the one without bundled media player components)

Second re-install after updating drivers and downloading codecs seems to have done it!

Try going to %Battletech installation directory%\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\Plugins and rename AVProVideo.dll to any other name. That disables cutscenes though.

Are you guys by any chance using a Windows N version? (That's the one without bundled media player components)

This would be exactly why it would not run on my main machine but ran on my backup when I tested. This is something that deserves a note somewhere as it is rather annoying.

Not as far as i know, just standard windows 10 pro
