Hi,

please forgive me if this question has already been asked, but I found nothing about it in this forum or in the EIC-Wiki.

On the "start new campaign"-screen, you are asked which
setting for "battle realism" you want to use. The available choices are "normal" (default), simulation and arcade.

I've played the game already with "normal" battle realism and was not too happy about the endless sea fights as my galleons seemed to alway sail with 1 kn.

So I thought about changing to another battle realism setting. But I found no documentation what the differences are between the three settings. Of course I've checked the game manual - but found nothing.

Could please someone point me to the right page or just tell me what the differences are?

PS:
EIC is a great game. I got it yesterday and already played for 6 hourse without a single bug or crash. :)

According to the moddable file misc.txt, there are 2 main differences between each option.

In Arcade, ships are faster, and wind plays a smaller role. In Simulation, it's the other way around, ships are slower and wind is more important. Normal is just the in-between.

Hi, Henchman,

It isn't in the manual. But you can find this information in the game files. Go to

C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\East India Company\Data\AI\misc.txt

In this file you can find some parameters of the game. Search realism. There you have it. Settings affect ship speed, how much the wind push the ships and how much headwind influences their speed too. You can change these parameters if you like. Make a backup of misc.txt before.
