I've been tinkering with this idea, and if enough people are interested, then maybe I'll go ahead with it. The idea is that everyone participating picks a country, and rewrites the AI file for that country. I then put all the AI files together, and pick a country out of the way (Cuba probably), and let the game flow from 1936. I then post screenshots and write-ups of what happened to who when. The AIs don't need to be historical (and it'll be most fun if they aren't), and remember that some AIs (most notably the German one) have switches that you also need to worry about that are triggered by events.

You need to:
1) Have a text editor.
2) Be able to ICQ me files.
3) Be willing to figure out the AI files.
4) Be able to build an AI that will not attack the observer nation.

I've played around with the AI files a great deal already, and have figured out roughly how everything works (though not perfectly).

At the minimum, we need people to write for (in descending order of difficulty - hardest is first):

Germany
USSR
USA
Japan
England
Italy
France

And then we can start on countries like China, Poland, Yugoslavia, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, etc...

Post here if you're interested or have ideas on how to make BattleBots better. Ideally, we'll be able to run multiple iterations of this since games will take only short periods to run. And the biggest bonus. Its sort of MP, except without the crashes, delays, and large time commitments.

This is a good idea which I think I too suggested trying for HoI 1 some time ago but I didn't do anything about making it happen. And there have been computer games based upon this mode of play - CoreWars and a game who's name I forget but which involved programming virtual tanks.

Anyway, if you're taking bookings then put me down for the UK please.
