One line summary of your issue
AKSoundEngine.dll

What platform are you running the game on?

Steam

What operating system do you use?
Win10
What version are you running?
beta 1.3.2
Do you have the Season Pass / Flashpoint installed?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
What is the status of the fix for this bug? The Beta update broke the beta for this so basically the game is now unplayable.

And for those who havent gone through the dozen threads there are no long-lasting fixes. Everything tried will eventually crash (sound card off, drivers off, sound turned down, use beta, etc etc).

Steps to reproduce the issue
Play the game. Crash during a mission at some point both career and campaign all versions currently available of Flashpoint. Reposting because my thread was marked resolved which it clearly was until HBS broke the beta with the latest update.

I cannot get more than a few turns each mission before this happens, really sucks the immersion out of the game. I've tried the fixes listed so far (volume all the way down, latest drivers, beta, etc.) and the crash still persists. At over 1000 hours before Flashpoint, the game has been beyond awesome but this issue is really, really frustrating.

Same problem here. Any mission I launch, any mode, just sends me back to the desktop to use the launcher crash report tool again. I've tried using the Beta and repairing the install- issue persists. Turning sound down- issue persists. Disabling realtek, same; trying a few variations of -nosound as a command line argument, same. Have run every combination of those fixes I can think of with no change in the results.

Every single time, it's that same aksoundengine.dll crash. The advice being offered here isn't providing a fix, and I don't feel like it's too far out of line to expect an official response to this known issue- so far, I haven't even seen a "we're working on it" posted anywhere.

This is a well known problem, unfortunately. I've posted on this, as have others, and HBS has directly recognized this is a known bug.

Unfortunately, it appears to be an issue with the WWise sound engine they use, combined with Unity. It manifests frequently on machines with Realtek audio drivers. You can disable the drivers entirely and it often will go away... but then, you're hosed for audio for all games (hardly a great solution).

Rest assured, they *are* working on it... but the fix may be tough and it is the holiday season.

Alright AKSoundEngine.dll comrades, I have had success!

I did everything in Device Manager. Under "Sound, video and game controllers" I have the following options:

NVIDIA High Definition Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
Realtek High Definition Audio
Sound Blaster Audio Controller
USB Modi Device

First I fully uninstalled the Realtek Driver. Got through one mission but then it crashed. Next I went through and right click > disable device on all of the remaining things and it works! I reinstalled the Realtek drivers and immediately disabled them. Everything appears to work, so if you haven't tried it yet, disable ALL devices in that portion of Device Manager and see how you do!

I tried disabling all audio devices but only got through one mission successfully then crashed on the next. This is a very frustratingly frequent occurrence and is making it difficult to make any progress. It is always the aksoundengine.dll that causes the error.

There is no permanent fix for this bug. I have disabled everything uninstalled etc. When they patched the beta they screwed that up too. Have to wait for a fix. They can fix it because I played 30+ hrs on the beta before they patched it without a crash. Whatever they imported from the latest patch into the latest beta is what broke it again.

Same AV here. Strikes unpredictably, I played through a campaign and a career and a half before I hit it the first time and am now hitting it regularly (11 times in the last 6 days, nothing prior in flashpoint), in two different careers. It tends to hit me at mission complete, which is a real tease since all that sweet sweet salvage just goes poof.

Not that you need a physical repro, but I have one locally and could drop it by.

It's known, and being worked on.

If so, that's good news, but I haven't been able to find any statements made to that effect. If you could share the source, I'd greatly appreciate it.

As it stands now, though, this particular issue has been a thorn in my side for the better part of a month now, and not only has it not been addressed to my knowledge, the beta localization update on Steam now includes the issue as well. From where I'm sitting, buying the expansion has essentially bricked my game, unless I want to roll back to a point where this expansion didn't exist anyways. I don't mean to rant, but there aren't a lot of games I look forward to spending my little bit of free time on, and BT- especially the flashpoint content I might never get to see- had earned a high spot on that list before all this.

Yeah this bug is killing my ability to play on two different machines (both with Realtek audio.) I can play one or two missions before it shows its ugly head, but I can't seem to finish one of the campaign missions at all without it crashing me. I figured support might be slow after the holidays, but its already well into January now and I've not seen anything official either.

I have the same problem on 2 different machines as well. Both are Dells and they use Realtek in a ton of their machines so my guess is this problem is much wider than it even appears to be here on the forum. I have only been lucky enough to complete one flashpoint since I purchased the expansion. every other time it has crashed and their have been many, many attempts.
