Beginners AoD Multiplayer

Hi there!

There appears to be a lot of demand for AoD multiplayer, so I've set this thread up to organise a game with new players - either to the game or just multiplayer.

I will be using Gameranger to host. I will be using AoD 1.04.

I can play nearly any time because of summer holidays cool but I am suggesting Fridays 4pm - 8pm GMT + 1 (British Summer Time). To make it more fun the major powers should be filled up before minors are taken.

UPDATE: We have switched to the abyss scenario.

• Chri5 x : USNA (Unites States of North America)
• FearCo: PARS (Japs/Philippines/Manchuria/Korea/Borneo)
• Supeerme: Roma (Italy/Libya/Balkans minus Greece, Bulgaria and half of Romania)
• Rockingluke: European Soviets (UK/Benelux/Denmark/West Germany)
• Rango: Sweden (Scandinavia/Baltic's)
• DwarfCro: Australasia

Well I would say be polite and reasonable to other players, and don't be too gamey. By this I mean nothing silly like pure armour armies. Try and stick to the historical events until 41/42. No peeking in the save. Using the Personal Messaging function on the forum will be helpful for allies to cooperate long-term.

I am torn between Germany and the USA at the minute. Is the time ok for you Supeerme?

IC spamming is ok as long as you stop after a few years. Gamey tactics usually abuse game mechanics (mainly the ai) and ruin it for everyone else. Considering we will stick to history (more or less) there were be much of an option to overrun small countries.

Ok well i posted something in the other thread but i post here too I would like to give MP a try sometime most likely next week. I live in USA and the time zone here is Central i don't know how to convert that to anything else as i really don't know What GMT is or anything.

GMT means Greenwich Mean Time. the USA is around -4 hours and that's just the most eastern coast! it goes to -11 at the most western point of the USA.

Central standard time is GMT -6, and I'm currently GMT +1. So the time when we would play would be 9am - 1pm for you. What country do you want to be?

So far the USSR (Supeerme) and Germany (me) is taken.

I don't, but I will certainly use it, as it seems to be a much easier method of multiplayer hosting. Do you want to play as well am300307? That would give us 4 people in total.

Well -5 seems wrong it looks like -6 where i am at i live in Texas. military time ok hum if we start at 1600 to 2000 your time thats about 4:00PM to 8:00PM your time does that mean i am six hours behind you. Which whould put me at 10:00 in the morning or if it's 8:00 or 2000 by your caluclation that would be 2:00PM for me thats better so i woulds say and time from 7:00 your time and after is find by me. I stay up most of the night to so if you want to play a early AM game your time like it's 2:00AM here i usally stay up until 4:00AM my time or even later sometimes. so that would mean from like 9:00AM for you right to about 11:00....


Sorry for that long disscusson just trying to work things out. Well hum who to play as lets see....i don't know i haven't really played anyone that much yet just Rep.Spain and USSR a bit i haven't finished a Single player game i am working on that now.

If we can do some bit of ahistorical twist i think i might be ok with Rep.Spain or maybe Sweden..How would we do Alliances could we disscuss them openly or do we need to send privent mesages.

I have so many ideas going through my head it's crazy i can't think of just one thing to do. I am a bit of an ahistory freak i think i can write books only if my enlgish was good engouh.

***Rep.Spain-(I will most likey if I can join the comintern)
**Sweden-(Same as above^)
*USA-(really don't want to but if i most be a major it most likely be them...warning if it gets ugly it might go off corse)
**Brazil-(Comintern if i can really it's up to suppeerme)
*Italy-(Try to Restore Roman Emp. By conquering Spain, All of Balkens, Turkey, Most of Africa...if not all, Taking Vicy France leting Germany keep north part.)

I know that i shouldn't of told yall that but i want to make sure things that i would like to do don't effect your game or the game as a whole.

Yeah Central time is -6 GMT, I would prefer people play as major powers otherwise you won't have much to do until you join the war. Most minors have high interventionism so won't be able to join the war until 1942/43, where often it is already decided. If you do decide to play as Italy, as the Germany player here I will assist you and make sure you don't do as bad as the historical Italy.

I hope that we can have a chance to go A-historic. I hate sitting around for years just to get ready for a war. I want to wage it as much as I want! btw, Yes you can be part of the glorious Commies Revolution!! The USSR welcomes you!

You can be as A-historical as you like after 'Danzig or War!'. Just remember that you get a 1(2?) year Non Aggression Pact with Germany (me for this game) that for fairness's sake should be respected. After all, barrelling into Germany whilst their troops are partying in Paris just isn't fair. And will result in me crying.

Yea i agree with that but as supeerme read my other thread the one about my crazy WWII i hope we don't go that way. Like if i play as Rep.Spain and i decide to go after portuagal is that against Danzig or war also thats only if Portugal is going to be AI i wouldn't want to mistreat someone out of a WWII game. But Like how Germany and the SU had the pact that allowed SU to go after Findland could i have that grace period too....

Also that only works if UK is not gurrenting them too. since it was writen in the game i took it out but if we have a UK player it will be up too him.

That may be very gamey but it shouldn't have to be game killer i am just expanding my boreders since those fascist decide to support my(Rep.Spain's) downfall......(Spooler)

To make things very fair i thought that we could do a Three way alliance game but that might just be too easy..I don't know but some people have done that and there are ARR's about it and they are very good and gave me some ideas.

Well if i must be a Major Must US join the Allies what if it gose Commie...lol thats for another game of mine but serrously i think i would like to be either Rep. Spain or Sweden

You can do what you like with your country - 'your country, your rules' as long as you follow the two rules in my first post. I would prefer if you were a major on the allied side, otherwise the allies are pretty screwed. Though the USA ai has the annoying habit of dumping 20 divisions into an allied landing.
