've just tried to improve my game by downloading the June 3rd beta patch. The first installation seemed to go well over the 1.04a official patch,, but I then uninstalled it for various reasons and when I tried again, the official patch installed fine but the bet patch always fails with this message:- " didn't find FONT:gfx\fonts/profroma12.bmp"

I made sure every time to uninstall the game first and then to delete the Paradox folder and eliminate the directory link (via run, regedit) to the 1.04a patch, but for some reason things still don't work. I suppose I will have to wait for the official 1.05 patch which will have what the beta patches have without the bugs.
Any thoughts on this?

Did unpack the patch file with WinRAR? There have been problems with other programs with it.

You do not "run" the beta patch so I cannot see how installing it could give you that error. Or do you mean after you install the beta, the game gives you that error when you try and run it?

Okay keep us updated

EDIT: Scrap that.

I did a bit of searches about that exact problem and it seems you get that font problem, if you have not applied 1.04a correctly, before you install beta. I found two cases with the problem and both were fixed by reinstalling 1.04a properly.

Try competely uninstalling whole CK, reinstalling it from your original CD and then applying 1.04a. After you have applied it, launch CK to check it is 1.04a (visible in top right corner) and if it is, unpack beta patch with WinRAR to your Crusader Kings folder like usual with betas.

 I realise now what I did wrong. I was supposed to extract the files to the relevant folders in Crusader Kings, same with the beta for Europa Universalis 2. Hopefully now I'll have better AIs.
The reason for my mistake was that I normally play with the Neverwinter Nights game which uses self-extracting WinRaR exe.s where you just click on the exe. and everything is done for you.

Well that is the way official patches work. ;)
