I bought the game and it worked on my laptop, all be it slowly. I got a new pc and now whwn i try to launch the game it just comes up with a black screen. And i cant do anything. I have to hold in the power button and just restart my pc. I would be thankfuly for any help.

please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

I'm asking for information files from your machine and your CK2 installation. You will have seen the same request in almost every thread here.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then post the first part of that file here.

The other files are in your MyDocuments folder, under the CK2 directory there.

I'M HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM!!!! It worked perfect on my Laptop but when I wanna play it on my BIGGER N BETTER desktop it goes black with the hour glass :'((((((

No need to shout, I can hear you perfectly well in normal size type.

But why you'd post that without supplying the information I've just asked for in great detail, I can't imagine.

Honestly, your gonna have to explain it a lot better then the name of the things we have to post
If you can go step by step. Would be much appreciated. Also what is the point in showing all of this ??
THANKS IN ADVANCE :)

This should be interesting... :)
You really shouldn't assume that just because you have the same symptom as the OP, you have the same problem cause. Please post your own files here too, or start you own fresh thread. Thank you.

All the other logs were blank
Your dxdiag says
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120305-1505)
but system.log says
[systemsettings.cpp:233]: OS: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Build: 6002
so I suspect that file is not related to your own setup, that it's in fact a default file supplied with the game in some way. You could try deleting or renaming it and run the game again, and see if you get a new one written.

If as I suspect it doesn't even try to write a new one we have some problem so early in the game's initialisation that it doesn't even get to the point of writing log files. Is setup.log blank as well? Settings.txt ?

If so, either the installation is bad or there's a hardware issue. Let's try a full clean reinstall. If this is Steam: uninstall the game from Steam. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.

If GamersGate: uninstall the game. Manually delete the CK2 directories from where GG put them and from MyDocuments. Reinstall the game , download 1.05e patch again and apply it.

I highly doubt I need to post a dxdiag ? My only error was
" [texturehandler.cpp:169]: Couldn't find texture file: gfx//coats_of_arms//dynasties.tga. "

I think I'll just watch as you ask everyone for a dxdiag & you comeup with nothing ?
So instead of acting like a scumbag on the internet, how about you just answer the mans question & mine.
Why is the screen going black after the launch of the game ? Plain an simple, don't get your panties in a wad & reply with an annoying thread. Just answer the question :)

Just saying, don't mean to hack the thread but I giveup. I've looked all over the Internet an NOBODY has a solution to this problem. i'VE TRIED RE-INSTALLING, changing my settings.txt NOTHING seems to work. I shall press on, on my Laptop :) cheers fellas

I highly doubt I need to post a dxdiag ?
On what grounds? Why not do it anywaY, it costs you nothing.
My only error was
" [texturehandler.cpp:169]: Couldn't find texture file: gfx//coats_of_arms//dynasties.tga. "
That is normal and nothing to do with your issue.
I think I'll just watch as you ask everyone for a dxdiag & you comeup with nothing ?
So instead of acting like a scumbag on the internet, how about you just answer the mans question & mine.
So you think I know how to fix your problem, and am just refusing to tell you what the answer is? Why would I do that? Not that you have the slightest evidence that is the case, of course. And why you insult someone you are asking for help from, I don't understand.

Why is the screen going black after the launch of the game ? Plain an simple, don't get your panties in a wad & reply with an annoying thread. Just answer the question :)
I don't know until you post the information I ask for. That's why I ask for it, not to be annoying, or to put you off, or any other purpose. My job here is to help people as quickly as possible.

Just saying, don't mean to hack the thread but I giveup. I've looked all over the Internet an NOBODY has a solution to this problem.
That's funny, in your previous post you seemed to think I had the answer and was just refusing to give it.

Well, this is a puzzle. The only issue I know of that smells like this one, is the problem some people have reported with HDMI monitors (effectively, TVs). Now you have a DVI connection, can you try swapping in a standard VGA cable instead and see if that helps?
