Blinkin' Game

I am getting a 'blinking' screen - constantly throughout the game. It is inconsistent - sometimes it happens every few seconds - sometimes it's every 30 seconds, and rarely, on some load-ups it doesn't happen at all. But it is truly annoying - almost fit-inducing in it's intensity.

Anyone know the cure or had this before.

Turn off all bittorrents, instant messanging programs etc... that are stealing the focus from the game.

Don't have bittorrents or IM - but I found that if I disable my internet connection completely - it cures it.
