I've played EU II on and off for years, and for as long as I can remember, every once in a while, I'd see the screen blink (momentarily going completely black). I believe I've also seen this happen in other Paradox games, based on the same Engine (e.g. HOI 1&2, Vicky, etc).

Just last week I bought a new computer, w/ good CPU, memory & graphics card (Pentium D, 3.4GHz, 2GB, NVidia GeForce 6800-256MB). To my surprise, EU II is now blinking *a lot* (hard to define this but often 10+times per minute, though it might go a minute, or even a few minutes w/o blinking).

This is getting very annoying - has anyone else seen this? If so, anyone found any solutions/workarounds?

TIA,

Kirk

This is caused by something running in the background attempting to take focus.
The number one culprit lately has been Music Match. If you have ever had Music match on your system it leaves a procees that runs at startup.

Look in your process tab (Ctrl-Alt-Del)
There should be a process called MM.exe or some such.
If you cancel that it should relieve your problem.

Boy, you really hit the nail on the head with this one! Music Match it was  - can't imagine why it was implemented in such a fashion as to be grabbing focus all the time (weird!!!).

Anyhow, problem solved, so thanks a bunch!

All part of the service. :)
