Is it possible to breed the congenital traits? I'd love to have My ruler dynasty line filled with geniuses or other positive congenital traits. Ie, 2x geniuses kids having 25% chance ot being genius themselves? Anything like this in the game? Or any possibility of modding it in.

(I've tested this tiny bit but marrying my ruler to genius wife, over 3 generations I got 0 geniuses (Married my heir always to a genius))

Oops... meant to post this to on the general CK2 forums....

The genius trait is already inheritable. Have kids with it. Seems to be about a 1 in 3 or 4 chance, really don't know. Strong and swift also inheritable, as are any heart shape traits other than maimed and such caused by events.

Needs more statistical testing, but as far as I can see, it seems more like having a hereditary trait like that increases the likelyhood of the child having -a- hereditary trait, not necessarily the one you want to pass on.

This is utterly based on unverified observation, but it seems to me that having two geniuses mate makes for a remarkable number of genii later. I ended up with three genius, one slow and one fast in a litter of eight (two of whom were twins, one of whom was a genius, the other slow...).

From another save, I got two geniuses from a fast mother and a genius father.

On the other hand, there have been many many not genius kids along the way (and due to them being utterly meh, I don't pay as much attention to them...)

EDIT: Further observations. Had one not genius, married it to a genius. Of their two children, there was one genius. That genius was then paired with another genius. These two then had four children, where the first was a genius and the third was slow. This genius was (as these things go) paired with another genius (and here it gets interesting). This last pair of geniuses has had one set of twins, both of whom were geniuses, and another kid ALSO a genius. Please note, this current production set is still busy churning out more data for you all. Will report back with more breeding data.

I'd be interested to see how things would replay; take the gen 1 couple and see what their kids come out as 2nd or 3rd time around; same with the other generations.

I wouldn't be surprised if congenital traits checked grandparents as well as parents for trait inheritance, like CK1 had for inbreeding. I made 6 custom characters, all with the genius trait, with 2 being parents of 1 character and the other 2 being parents of the other. I then married these two characters to each other. This might just be an anomaly, but 4 of 7 children received the genius trait. On a second run I had with the grandparents removed, only 1 of 5 children had the trait.

ok, that's cool. Have to start my spreading my geniuses (well, have to hope that my brothers end up being imbeciles)

Any idea if there are any starting character males that are genius? Preferably count level.

Quickly scanned through the character folder and found only non random geniuses at the beginning (alive) are in serbian and russian culture. But afaik, they're not rulers.

Oh and also easteregg-johan is genius, and lunatic.
