I was just thinking, and i hope i am not reviving a dead thread, but couldnt Egypt be split into two, a puppet of the UK and then occupied territory.

Say the northern most states all belong to the UK, so that North Africa can still be fought properly, but southern Egypt be the free kingdom of Egypt, a puppet of the UK, that has a national spirit keeping it from joining the conflict unless its removed by some deep focus decision. Maybe make all of coastal Egypt belong to the UK so that Ethiopian and Libyan forces can pincer Sinai.

Then it would be relatively historical if it stayed out of the war then right? Maybe an event would switch the UK territories to free Egypt and the UK would be pushed to the other side of the Sinai canal along the peninsula? If there was a national spirit keeping it out of the conflict, and it was removed via focus, then the focus result could be instant factory construction. Maybe granting 5 mil factories and 5 civ while adding like 2 building spaces? It could add manpower too, or just return the British held parts to Egypt. just spit balling.
Tell me if i am wrong but Egypt didn't fight, or was at least not heavily involved right?

When planning for the UK overhaul it was discussed to represent the historical autonomous government subject to the UK, but it was decided not to continue with this because it'd cause too many issues with balance (vassal swarm).

A sensible decision, I think.

There's also the fact that Egypt would be extremely difficult to represent properly, and wouldn't really be of any use as a puppet anyway - it was technically independent but Britain had military access, controlled its ports and the Suez Canal, and kept a military garrison in the major cities/areas. Also, during most of the war Egypt was technically neutral, even though fighting took place across Egypt.

It's a very odd country to represent, and I agree that it is better simply controlled by the UK. The situation is too convoluted otherwise, and the AI couldn't really handle it.

So Egypt wouldn't have the northern part, nor any of it's coastal land... Wouldn't that mean they would basically only have one state that is empty desert? What would be the point? Having Egypt on the map just for the sake of having Egypt on the map doesn't seem like a smart decision to me... Especially since your suggested changes would make them less historical as Britain holding the northern half for no reason while the southern part is a puppet makes less sense than the current setup.
