An idea popped into my head while I was playing Lux Invictus last week with it's huge number of religions, what if you had the option on reformation to shape the mechanics of the new reformed pagan religion on reformation? Obviously there'd only be a handful of options that could come out the other end by nature of the religions system, but it would conceivably really extend out the alt-history potential of the game.

The examples that immediately come to mind for me are syncretic religious options like the Christian/Norse mix from Lux that would put you into that religious group with some of the mechanics of each group maintained in the new religion. But you could conceivably go in a ton of different directions here that would make for different religions mechanically and flavor wise.

I think he's talking about not having a single reformed faith that a pagan religion converts to upon reformation, but several different options each with different mechanics -- such as a "reformed" norse/christian faith that sits in the Christian religion group and has some Chrisitian mechanics.

Which could be done, but wow -- that'd be a lot of work.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Which I will acknowledge as probably a lot of work. But so were a lot of parts of the mod and I was assuming it wouldn't necessarily be more than a lot of the stuff already in the mod. Not really an educated modder myself, but since Conclave might well be the last major expansion of the game it would be a thing that could be added to a to do list.
