I am trying to run the Bronze Age mod on Ubuntu. My hardware is within specs and the vanilla game runs fine. Is there anything that I might try or look at? My workaround is to boot Windows, but I would prefer to run it on Linux.

Of course tech support for mods is a thing on its own, but I suspect that there is some fundamental issue beneath my issue.

To be more specific, when I start the game with the mod in the launcher, then the normal loading screen appears with a quote. There are some usual entries in the log files for the first few seconds. But then it is simply stuck at the loading screen and I have to force kill the process. According to top it is using 1 of my CPUs and 2 GB of memory till I kill it. Otherwise, I did not notice anything, but I also do not know what to look for.

When does it get stuck? Does it get stuck on during initial loading, or do you get into the main menu and does it get stuck when trying to start a new game? If the latter, does it get stuck at 'generating the world from history 100%'? If the latter I might know what is wrong, if something else I wouldn't know.

Honestly, I doubt that it is an issue with the mod as it runs fine on Windows. So I consider it pointless that my post was moved here. It will be some issue with the linux version of the game.

I don't know. It could very well be a specific setting in the mod which causes a crash in Ubuntu but not in Windows. The game will sometimes ignore a bug and sometimes the same bug will crashes the game. It depends on what the game reads before it. For example: I had a bug in the history files which the game ignored. But when I switched to tags around (literarly only changed AFR into MDH and MDH in AFR in the setup history file) it would crash. So I was thinking there might have been a bug in the history file which wouldn't cause a crash on Windows, but would on Ubuntu.

This might still be the case, but now I don't know where to look.

Do other (map) mods run fine on Ubuntu?

Maybe. It was a bit tedious to a find a map mod that works for 1.4. The Chronicles of Omniluxia are running fine it seems. Also map errors only seem to crash the game when trying to start a new game (as you said before).

Also I want to emphasize that the game is not crashing (as map errors appear to do), it is simply stuck using one CPU and 2 GB of RAM.
