Brothers in Arms- A Canadian AAR

Greeting everyone. After getting my feet wet in HOI i feel im now ready to starts writing an AAR.
Since the period of 1936- 1938 was un eventful, ill just sum it up.
Ill enjoty any and all comments.

Nation: Canada

Duifficulty Normal
Agressiveness Normal ----- **should this be set to agressive for maximum realism or is normal fine and agressive just a rammed up difficulty???

Prolouge: The Pre-War Years (would have made it comedic but could not think at the time.)

September 1936- Election period. The Government of the day (thats me :rofl: ) remains in power. Cabinat took a few shuffles but none to serious. It was felt by this administration that new foreign minister was needed to exert Canada's influence better. No better choice then me, the great comprimisor

The Spanish civil war broke out and ended suprisingly gfast due to the assistance of near by fascist countries. The Nationalists have now took over the large land mass known as Spain, that lies beneith France. (I love the French *wink*)

Italy Anexed Ethiopia today, good for them. The world just keep getting better and better everyday. First the Fasicfit Nationalists of Spain take over some territory, but now another Fasict power has picked up more terriitory. Im sure this must be a dieing trend though. How much COULD fasicism really grow anyways, since Democracy is clearly the way to go...

December 1936- I had a meeting with my Military advisors today. It has been agreed upon that Canada will focus its efforts on developing a resonably sized navy and improving the combat capabilities of our 9nfantry divisions. With some assistance from our British Brothers, we hope to dip our feet in a growing trend in warfare, aviation. Construction has begun on a series of Destroyer Flotillias (which will be updated and retrofited as new tech comes along) and three infantry division, one carrying a artillary brigade, one an engineer brigade and the other just a standard light infantry. On anotehr note Just we just received word TODAY that german forces entered and occupied the reineland (no realy this is the fault of a forgetful minister who accdently misplaced the first telegram and lost the actual date it occured)

and yes I am going to be protraying King as kind of a half wit even tho i highly respect his efforts for Canada, being a Canadian my self.

My last Canada game involved me sending all my troops to France pre-WWII. They all got killed when the Germans rolled over them. :wacko:

A Report of 1937-38

Well life as a Canadian Prime Minister is pretty boring (dont tell anyone i said that) In January we took another boot for out Industry as more factories are going up everywhere. In March, that brilliant American President Rosevelt dropped me a visit. We had Tea on 24 Sussix Drive (my big house ) While we were there we hammerd out an agreement on industrial integration and trade. This gave Factories all over the country boosts of busienss and production. The First Canadian Divisons are being assembled from all over Canada and work on a Mountain corps and and Anti Tank brigade are under way. Three steamer lines are also underway. I mean as gram-pappy once said: "what the hell good is an army if you cant depoly it"
The Brits and the Aussies are sending me their research data all the time, and I have decided al though I would RATHEr spend the small amount of influecne on better things, i can't be a dirty ole crook and not give some techinlogies back to my comrades. I authoursed my Foregin Minister to send any and all data consering our gun technolegy to our French Brothers.
March 1938-
King: Is this thing on *tap tap* ahem... it havs been along time since I have discussed things in my journal.
Canada Is developing our first Capital Ships, Enterprise Class Cruisers, with new designs on the way., The mountain Division is complete along with an anti tank brigade. The industry is now focused entirely on Building Our new ships and a new wing of fighters now designed by our Engineers in Quebec. Loong Range fighters will prove a useful asset to our growing militrary.

On the topic of International Politics (ohh joy) the Germans are constantly axerting pressure against their Austrian neighbours, for some territory, ahh what did they call it... Auch... Aush... ohh damnit...
From other room: "Anschluss you twit!!!! Anschluss... god!*
King: Damnit mother not now! their gonna publish this,.... god... This is the last time im doing these voice recorded journals...
At the end of the year, Austria agreed to Germany's statements (or threats who knows) and joined Greater Germany. Facism grows again. Fascism is like the plauge these days. Spreading this way and that. But how much more success could this Hitler character have.
I would sure like to know what happened to the Treaty of Versailles?? I mean wasnt Germany supposed to be crippled... Ahh whatever, The British dont have abackbone it seems, the French neither. Now in Canada things are different. When we Canadians are asked to do something we do it. We back up our allies no mater what. We may seem like a weird bunch, and being Prime Minister, maybe im the querkiest of all.
Other Room: Snicker.. you got that one right.
King: MOTHER!. As I was saying. If war broke out in Europe tommorow, we would be there i an seccond giving 110% to help out our European Allies. I just hope that this will never be the Case. Will Fascism be the reason this all comes to pass. The Japanese agression in Asia, The backwards communists in the East, who knows but whatever the case Canada WIll be there, With all its got. (I know only 6 Divisions right now, but damnit their dedicated. )

I know alot of this is dry and missing parts but this stuff has already been played and i cant remember all of it, but a true update is coming soon. Im in late 40 now. and things are ugly (sort of)

1938- The Important Stuff.
Ive decided to get back to writing these damn things since that hag... i mean err... Mother insisted on ruining the last one. Anyways Ill start with the most important Event:

My Birthday Party In December Was amazing. All of my friends Joined me at a celebration in Rideu Hall. Chamberlin was there, French Prime Minister Chautemps came as well. I wanted to Invite that Hilter fellow, but both my cabinet and my mother felt it wouldn't really be sucha good idea. I guess they were right, I mean Hitler just keeps building this army up and holding these rallies all over his country and is making Chamberlin all antsy, even more so then usual.

We had alot of drinks that night and when I went to blow out my candles, one remianed lit. As i stared at that flicering flame a cold sensation enveloped me. It was a feeling of doom, not just for me and my friends but for all of Canada... dont ask, must have been the six beers that night,and the three glasses of wine brought by Chautemps.

Anyways 1938 rolled around and the good fortune of a new year was quickkly marred when Japan decided that that Chinese province of Manchuria was not good enough for them and that they wanted the rest of the fortune cookie was well. So war has broke out in the Asia, well at elast its not in Europe for a change. By March the Japanese had over run the Chinese capital and were pushing inalnd. Then to the suprise of it all the Natonalists struke a deal with the Communists tothe North. When i heard the news from my foreign secretary I was like:
King: WHAT......
KIng...: Yes aparently acording to the informatrion at hand..., I alwasy have these litle conversatiosn with myself. It helps me to sort out all the busy work of being a first class PM.

Anyways back to matters at hand. So the commies allied with their opressers to fight back the Japanese invaders. And by August they had fought the Japs back and retook the capital. It was a good feeling to see Democracy getting some things done for a change.

Domestic Matters: Our first Crusers are now complete with two more upgrades models along the way. Our First Fighter wing is com0leted and is stationed in Halifax untill further notice. Our Army now stands at six active divisions. Ive ordered that the troops pe put on reserve notice only, since peace reigns supreme in Canada and Europe. Research is comming along nicely with new navel techs and infantry weapons and ideas coming to light every month.

September 1938. I guess that candle late last year woudl really come back to haunt me. Hitler started his whining again this month. HE is demanding some territroy in czechoslovakia. I think he calls it the Su*eraser marks* Sdundt... *more eraser marks* (this is so embarassing) Sudentland (in really dark letters) ..
Yes they were demanding and area of Czechoslovakia called the Sudentland. apparently Hitler felt that it should belong to greater Germany becuase most of the population consisted of ethnic Germans anyways. However the czechs were not prepared jsut hand over a third of their country over to Germany for no good reason. So of course Hitler flexes his Military Muscle and begins a build up of troops along the border. Before Hitler could act, My good friend in Britain, Nevile Chamberlin gave him a call. He wanted to have a confrence about the matter (He really love those.. ). He was so eager to get this done peacefuly that he let Hitler pick the location. Hitler told him that Munich would be ok, and that he could also bring his French buddy along. Before he left I told Chamberlin that it would be a bad idea to just let Hitler have his way. But ole' Nevie was determined to apease Hitler and avoid war. I told him that As their Canadian brothers, we would do go along with whatever Britain decided. I wanted him to deny Hitlers requests, after all, the Czechs were not even invited to their own confrence, that I thought was pure bunk. So a week later, I learned that the allies had signed over the Sudentland over to Hitler, and I was like:
King:WHAT!!!!!
King: .....*well*....

I was speechless. My stupid British companion had agreed to Hitler's demands. I know I said I would agree tio what ever they proposed, but this was just not right. The Czech's had the right to determine their own destiny right? Ahh Well, He figured the agreement would usher in 'peace in our time' but that damened remaining candle was still burning in my memory, and i got this feeling in my cochles.. or may my sub cockele area, or was it my kindeys, my liver or maybe my colon, I dont know, but what i do know is, i got this feeling SOMEWHERE inside of me that Hitler could not be trusted and was far from being done. The guy was defying the now useless Treaty of Versailles left right and centre. The guy was massing a huge standing army, for what, to build bridges and shovel snow <===(Author note: If You lived in Ontario Canada like I do, you would find this quite funny) No I have the feeling that this guy uis going to try and grab more territory for his ever expanding Empire.
I decided On october 1st 38, That I would begin to prepare Canada for War, just incase Hitler made some demand in the future that even Nevie couldnt agree to ( What would this have to be....
Chamberlin: Its ok Hitler You can have Paris and the entire Manchester region, just dont let me see any German troops outisde on my porch) .

I took some funding from a few MINOR social programs and added to the production of supplies and an additional Infantry Division. Cause if that feeling in My body came true, then not just Canada, but the whole world would have to be ready for doom.
