Dead Ancestors/Vassals keeping titles
I started as Robert de Hauteville, Duke of Apulia (Naples) in 1066. I am now in the year 1209, and the great great great grand nephew of Robert is now the King of Naples, North Africa, Mauretania, Papal States, Tunisia and Portugal. The issue I've discovered has been happening from the start of the game, but because this is the first campaign I've played, I didn't notice/recognize the problem.
After the first transfer of power following Robert's death, I changed inheritance laws to Salic Consanguinity to ensure that I could choose my successor by bestowing titles. For example, I recently granted title of Count of Ifni, Fes, and a few others to the son I wanted to inherit. When the Ruler died, the chosen son inherited, but the titles I had bestowed upon him were transferred back to the Ruler who just died. Thus, the successor inherited all titles the Ruler had, but has lost the titles he had prior to the inheritance. Moreover, on the portrait of the recently dead Ruler, it lists him as Count of Ifni, Fes, etc., all the titles that the Ruler had given to the inheritor before he died. Further, the provinces in question are not listed in the inheritor's titles, though the provinces themselves have the inheritor's/realm's shield at the top of the screen (and are included in the personal demesne view on the relational map), indicating they are part of the Ruler's personal demesne. However, on the grant title panel, the provinces are not available for grant to any other vassals.
I went back, and this problem has been true for every inheritance I've had in the game - Abelard de Hauteville (my second ruler) is listed as Duke of Apulia and Count of Lecce, but neither the current ruler, nor any of his vassals, presently holds that title. Frustratingly, both Apulia and Lecce are shown as part of the current ruler's personal demesne on the relational map. Hence, the realm information panel says I have a personal demesne of 13 provinces, but on the relational map, upwards of 30 provinces are color-coded to my current king.
Any thoughts?
