"Auld" is Scots for "old". I tried to duplicate this, but the rollover says nothing about the alliance - it mentions the relations changes but not the alliance. This may be because I couldn't get France out of existing alliances and wars so the alliance couldn't happen.

Most English speakers would know it from Auld Lang Syne, the song traditionally sung on New Year's Eve. It literally means "Old Long Since", or figuratively "Old Times":

Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot
For the sake of auld lang syne.

As far as the problem goes, can you send me a save game I can show it with? Thanks.

Zip up the .eug and .eug.cfg files and email them to me at ataubman@ducros.com.au , along with a link to this thread, your forum nick, and any instructions I need to duplicate the problem. Thanks.

The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

I guess that's along the same lines!

Anyhow, I sent the file. I hope it shows the problem I am talking about to you. I've tried it four times and each time the problem showed up. But its possible France could ally before the event triggers so good luck!

OK, I was able to see this with your game, this is a bug with any event-triggered alliance, it shows up in the rollover text as "Alliance with xxx Broken".

Bugzilla bug 2483 and public bug 305. Thank you.

Marked LAPSED as, by test, it no longer occurs.
