I've had the same thing happen. In my case it doesn't seem to always flip, which is the weird part. The Stomlands and Vale switched to King upon inheritance, but the North did not.

UPDATE: Further oddness as this went away when I reloaded the save and has yet to repeat.

I wonder if this has anything to do with my opting into the 2.4.5 beta

Guys, it's in the changelog. Now empire-tier rulers can decide (I suppose upon succession) whether their kingdom-level vassals are localized as Lord Paramounts or Kings. Just a new feature to add some flavour (though I agree it would look weird if happening apparently randomly), no bug AFAIK.

Yes, I know. The thing is them flipping with no input what so ever.

Me granting them royal favor and letting them be called king is the feature.
The Lord Paramount of the Vale becoming King of the Vale on inheritance is a bug.

I've also seen this happen where Lord Paramounts become Kings if you flip between bookmarks But that can be chalked up to the general weirdness that happens in ck2 when doing that.

So yes, it is a bug. A minor one that, at least from what I've seen, does not persist on reloading a save. But still a bug.

Oh, sorry then. I misunderstood what you meant. Yeah, definitely a bug.

2.4.5 beta seemed to help with this bug for me as well. While playing Aegon's conquest Lord Paramounts after the death of those I conquered would switch back to Kings under the new heirs. Now that is not happening for me as far as my play testing as shown. As well Dragon sieges seem to work again just fine; though no help for Dragons being used in normal battles as they used to be. 2.4.5 though seems to for the most be making the mod work better, and certainly enough with the Dragon Sieges back to make it just as fun as any previous version. Funnier even, but maybe that's just me. Anyways, not sure I helped any, but thought I'd just add my 2 cents.
