I have played about 150 years of the Fantasia scenario. At this point in time, no one has earned a single victory point. Not in the ledger and not in the end game screen (the one after quitting). Since there are no victory points being awarded, no one can win!

Am I missing something?

Before crying Wolf, make sure you read the FAQs.

You have no vps because you didn't enable victory points at the begining of the game under 'options' on the scenario selection screen.

Happy gaming!

Wolf! Wolf! WOLF!!!

Well, I did ask if I were missing something. Maybe if the options menu was mentioned in the manual I would not have missed that! (I still don't have a clue what 'forced annexation' does.) Why would you not want to have victory points turned on? Why is it even an option?

Thanks for the help!

That's a very good question. Why indeed?

Don't know. Made the mistake once, got bitten (see I thought it was a wolf too, but it just so happen it was a teething puppy), now always enable vps.

as for the annexation, your guess is as good as mine.

cheers :p

VPs Missing

It's not just selecting the correct victory condition. I've been playing the GC as Austria with the standard VP victory. In addition to a host of other bugs, one problem has been that no VPs are scored by anyone. I've played for 60 years nonetheless, just b/c it's a fun game. Once the patch is released maybe I won't have to take 'time-outs' from frustration.

The problem is, the option doesn't say 'Enable Victory Points', it says 'Enable Base Victory Points'. That meant to me that it turned off part of the victory points but left, for example, scenario victory points enabled. Or something. There's just no explanation of it (nor is there an explanation of it in the FAQ). Is this a translation issue? It really only supposed to turn off part of the victory points or what?

What's the difference between a 'Random' and a 'Historical' event? Aren't all the events historical? Does turning on Random events create anachronisms?

What *is* 'Forced Annexation'? That's in neither the manual nor the FAQ, but searching the forum here resulted in 100 hits--thank goodness for the context quotes in the search results! (Answer: with forced annexation ON, you annex a (non-major) country when you take over all its provinces; with it OFF, annexation happens as an option in peace negotiations). And the fact that I needed a nested parenthetical to explain that says something (and I don't mean that it says anything about whether or not I have a punctuation fetish).

Where do screenshots go?
Why don't screenshots work in the options screen? When I alt-tab out of EU after taking a screenshot at the options screen, it quits when I alt-tab back to it.

I applaud the people responsible for putting together the FAQ, but it really needs to be searchable.

EU may be the best computer wargame ever made, but I may never find out! Learning how to operate the thing is so darn frustrating! I've logged 20 or more hours of gameplay and I STILL feel like I'm lost. I keep tellikng myself I'm not an idiot... I'm not a computer or gaming or even wargaming novice. I also keep telling myself I don't have this kind of time to invest in learning the basics of a game...

To my mind, the #1 missing feature is a manual that describes how to operate the game. Even a little readme that went over all the UI elements would go a long way. While the historical info is interesting, I expect my software manuals to teach me how to use the software, not background information about game elements. The backstory belongs in the game itself!

Well, enough ranting... off to start off one... more... campaign...
