Hi, i wrote messages on the Steam forums but no one even answered so i've decided to post here because for me the game is currently UNPLAYABLE (well, actualy it is playable but i can't call it PLAYABLE you know).

Specs:
- 1920x1080 screen resolution (i want to play on the default res for my monitor)
- NVidia GT 650M
- Intel i7-3610QM
- 16Gb DDR4
- Win8.1 64-bit
- video driver 352.86 (latest)

I set all settings to LOW/OFF, start the game and i have 35 fps. Ok, that is, imho, too low for minimum video quality as i can play more prettier games with this fps and high settings, but that's not the main problem. The problem is that if i play for some time even running around the same place and casting different spells then eventualy (quite fast) my FPS drops to 15!! And will not rise again. Strangely, the only one solution is to play in full-screen mode and press Alt+tab and back into the game. In this case FPS will go up to 35 again. This happens with different video settings and screen modes.

Also if i change video settings from HIGH to LOW (some of them, to improve perf) then FPS will not change till... i use Alt+tab and back again. That is WEIRD.

PS: I had no such issues with any game before

Anyone got similar STRANGE performance issues?

This might and I mean might be because of your graphic card is a mobile version of the NVidia GT 650 which results in that the card does not have the same power as the regular NVidia GT 650 for a PC. Can you add the DxDiag?

Sure, i've attached DxDiag file. Yes i know its mobile because i play at my notebook but it is quite powerful to run most of the modern games on medium settings and i've never experienced described odd behaviour in any other game. In most of the games FPS is predictable when there are many objects or complex scenes or heavy post-processing effects being used. But in Magicka 2 i've run into the issue when i play in visualy equal conditions with very different FPS output.

Thanks for responding.

I've spent some time testing this behaviour and i can submit following:

I've turned off all offable settings and set others to medium. I've set 1280x720 resolution. I've started to play at the training dummy right outside of the tutorial castle.
I've got around 60 fps with this setup. Next i've began moving around and cast different spells.
The results are that at some point fps dropped to 45 fps and stayed at that level for a while then dropped to 30 fps after some additional casting actions. Then after some time to 15 fps!!! Same area nothing new around just more spellcasting!!! I've left the game to main menu and saw same 15-20fps!! o_O
Aaaand.... Alt+tab and back = old fine 60 fps again!

Sorry, i've tried to play with nvidia 3d settings but nothing changes. I'm surely run game on NVidia adapter and i think this game have some serious problems in my case. Not sure why :(

It seems i've run into some rare Win 8.1 bug that can be described as constant 15-20% CPU load when idle. It also seems directly related to FPS drops in 3D games and i've unluckily got it when started to play Magicka 2. It confused me because i haven't seen it before in any game but today i've tried other games and got similar behaviour.

Managed to somehow get rid of it (for now) by tweaking system settings and multiple reboots. The problem is on my side, sorry for troubles!

It's alright, I hope that it gets better so you can enjoy the game more. :)
