I'm playing as Lord Paramount Jon Stark of the North in AFFC (the most recent Qohor version) and I won a war for the Dawn against the White Walkers (who already took everything in the wall expect of Eastwatch and Shadow tower, both of which are independent), but nothing happened. The White Walker's invasion against Eastwatch ended when I enforced my demands, but the White Walkers remained intact and everything from Thenn to New Gift is a Winter wasteland. I downloaded the cold winds hotfix but it's the same.

Can anyone think of a workaround in for the meantime? I got the same problem in my current game and it got interesting enough that I don't want to start over just yet, but the Others keep getting into everyone's business.

Use console commande to play as the White Walker. Then use event cold_winds.7. This will give the Others capital to a wildling. Repeat until the Others as lost every province. Console command back to your character. Don't know if you have to console end winter afterward. Will post again (or edit) when I find out.

Edit: Can't make the winter end. But no more war for the dawn

To make the winter end (eventually, not right away), I edited the save file and deleted the cold_winds flag. It worked. Don't know if doing so may break something else, but I continued playing that game for another 100 years without issues.

- What is it for a line that one must delete?
0- Make a backup copy of the save file you want to edit, just in case something goes wrong

1- Open your save file

2- Search cold_winds

3- You should see something similar to this:
flags=
{
summerhall_established=8296.3.1
reynes_of_castamere=8296.3.1
davos_appeared=8296.3.1
great_sept_built=8296.3.1
scenario_initialised=8296.3.1
asoiaf_harsh_winter=8372.1.14
building_westeros_road_network=8296.3.1
aegon_invasion=8315.10.11
cold_winds=8386.11.7

4- Delete the line I highlighted, the one with cold_winds and a date. Take care not to delete anything else!

5- Keep in mind that the winter will NOT end right away. Some years of in-game time may pass before it ends. Don't despair, it will end eventually.

Also, I'm glad someone found this workaround useful :)
