buggy game

Has anyone actually played to the end of a game?!? I've started at least a dozen games since I got this game back in February, and I've NEVER made it to the end of the game. It always crashes or freezes.

It certainly isn't much of a game if you can't make it to the end. I've been very patient waiting for patches and starting over with new games, but after so many patches and so much time, it's getting ridiculous.

I find it hard to believe this never came up in testing of this game. I guess the developers never bother finishing a game!

Sorry you are having troubles but not everyone is.

Have you done some standard stuff, like Renaming the AVI folder to AVI_back, update your Audio and Video drivers?

Also make sure you have the latest 1.05B patch.

Ive been having problems with crashes to desktop also. I am learning to save nearly everyday's turns. I have updated to 1.05. I downloaded the 1.05B file but not sure where it goes, the readme doesnt say. I hadnt seen anything about changing the AVI folder either, this is required?

Extract the 1.05B into the HOI folder, select overwrite, and depending on the extraction utility you use you should aslo select keep directory structure.

Renaming the AVI folder is an easy way to disable the Bink player and the intro videos. The Bink player has been known to cause problems for some users.

Actually I think this is more than a mere game... it must be something more.... that's why people take all these bugs and continue playing.....

And I'm not only talking about HOI... but all EU system (I think, I didn't try Crusader Kings, YET)....

That would be dificult as it is not even in beta yet.

EU2 is pretty bug free with the latest beta patch.

That's why I didn't find it at any store!!!

The only problem is that now how can someone start a new game of EU2? not before CKs, for sure..!...

Yes, I know.... but I played a lot of the original EU....

Anyway the question is: is the concept of the game that is so damm good....
or is a kind of nostalgy of playing in a "dangerous enviroment" wich adicts people?!?

Game ended

Actually I have played the game to the end... with Russia....
And Germany defeated before 39 (wich made some damage in ver 1.05...)....
Unfortunally I wasn't brave enought to attack allies in good time... but, anyway I finished it!!

Just to answer the 1st question in the thread!!
