Summary
Buggy HRE electors in 1.11.4Description
When the game is just loaded with the 1066 start, the Duke of Bohemia is not one of the electors in the HRE.The electors are:
Kaiser of the HRE
Prince-Bishop of Mainz
Prince-Bishop of Coburg
Prince-Bishop of Trier
Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg
Duke of Austria
Count of Pula
Prince-Bishop of Erbach
(notice Bohemia is missing)
Without unpausing the game, go to the HRE title view (where there is the "Current Holder" and "Line of Succession" at the bottom of the view, as well as the button to "View Election"), and wait a minute to be sure. A "Nominate Successor" major hint appears.
Now the Electors are:
Kaiser of the HRE
Prince-Bishop of Mainz
Prince-Bishop of Trier
Prince-Bishop of Cologne
Duke of Bohemia
Duke of Angria
Prince-Bishop of Coburg
Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg
(notice Bohemia is now present)
(Just in case: checksum: c358)
Also, IMO the tooltip of "Succession Law: Princely Elective" needs some clarification. It states that
1. "If an historical elector Title is held by infidels or does not exist, another De Jure vassal will take its place."
-- but currently, a historical elector Title that belongs to the emperor also passes the voting right to another vassal; also, one can read between the lines kind of an implicit statement, that only direct vassals can be electors. It'd be nice to have this stated explicitly. It would also be nice to get an elector succession score somewhere (why is it the Prince-Bishop of Coburg and not the Duke of Bavaria who got to be an elector?)
2. "This Succession Law places a significant importance on Faith and Piety."
-- but it doesn't. Voting strength is based on your primary title rank, if you are a powerful vassal, and if you are militarily stronger than the emperor; and candidate preference is based primarily on traits and opinion. There is no Faith or Piety involved.
Steps to reproduce
Start a new game in 1066 as Bohemia, click on "Current Situation", then "Active Election in the Holy Roman Empire" -- notice you aren't an elector.Game Version
