Finally got the Swedish version of the game and after playing a while as Sweden I've made the following observations:
1) The copy protection system appears to be on the fritz. It takes a long time to start the game and once the game has closed (by a crash or regular quit) it refuses to start again until I reboot. It appears that it writes something in the registry too - at least Windows says there has been changes to the system files when I reboot. I _hate_ this kind of sh*t.
2) The game crashes once in a while for reasons I've been unable to identify. The German version also crashed at times, but I think this might be worse.
3) Troubles with the combat system.
3a) I've had two battles in Västergötland against the Danes which deadlocked and would not end until either side died of attrition or retreated. It might have happened when I sent in reinforcements.
3b) Absurd combat results where I was unable to win against tiny Danish forces despite me having a pretty good historical leader. In 10 tries I've never won a single battle in Östlandet. I had superior numbers of infantry and artillery every time. Terrain effects? Cavalry effects?
3c) The peace negotiation system only awarded me one star for capturing Danish provinces like Östlandet and Vestfold.
4) In the campaign choice, the rating for Sweden is unreasonable. Sweden is much harder to play than Russia, yet it is rated as easier.
5) 'Swenglish' spelling errors: 'Huvud Kampanjen' and 'Introduktions Scenario' should of course be 'Huvudkampanjen' and 'Introduktionsscenario'.
6) English sentences remain in the game texts. E.g. 'X has rejected our generous peace offer.'
7) I don't understand why I never got a COT despite having trading posts in dozens of provinces. Not sure it's a bug, but the system for how trading posts appears is... obscure.
