I loved C.O.R.E. for HOI 1, and have no reason to think the second won't be brilliant.

I've been playing Stony Road for awhile and really like it, think they did a great job. It's fantastic that they put it out in such time, and still be high quality.

C.O.R.E. has been worked on for a great deal more time than Stony Road, so I'm expecting a masterpiece as I'm sure many here are.

One question is, do you think, overall, that C.O.R.E. will be better than Stony Road, taking into account ALL factors -- such as Stony Road being out first...

I actually tend to say Stony Road is the better mod, since the producers got it out there so quickly and it enhanced the game play.

To top Stony Road, I would think that C.O.R.E. will have to be utterly amazing. Like many people here, I'm patiently waiting to be floored by you valiant C.O.R.E. volunteers.

I wish to thank all those that work for free to make the gaming experience better for all of us, the great C.O.R.E. and Stony Road mod makers, cheers to you lot! :)

Talk about putting your foot into it. Stony Road and CORE are very different, with different aims and objectives. I am a CORE person myself.

CORE2 will be released when ready. Enjoy whatever you are playing. :)

What happened to mid July? ha

I've stopped playing Stony Road, which was quite good, and now am on to the Austria mod.

It's the first version of the Austrian mod, but quite fun.

Good name by the way, Kevin McCarthy, cheers m8.

Stony Road is really good, but I'm sure C.O.R.E. will be head and shoulders above the competition.

Was there any ever doubt CORE would be anything less? ;)

I guess my parents thought so...

Pardon me for asking a very noob question, but whats the different btw the two?
If possible could you tell me their aims and objective?

CORE and SR are really two different animals. Each is approached in a different manner for different purposes. Now I haven't played SR for HoI2, but I certainly did for HoI1, and I liked it. So, I can't say how exactly CORE2 will differ from SR when it's released. Even so, each should give different game experiences, and which you prefer is merely a matter of personal taste. the SR guys do really great work, and so does the CORE team, so no matter which you prefer, it'll be a "quality experience."

Played a bit of HSR yesterday,i must i really like it,esp the more elaborated events, and the revamp of Germany's troop is thumbs up~~~
Now earnestly waiting for CORE.........

I think, and feel free to correct me here, that HSR focuses more on gameplay, wheras CORE focuses on historicity. By which I mean that HSR makes compromises over things to make for a better game, but CORE dosn't compromise :p

I haven't played HSR yet, but I do know that we (CORE) focus much on gameplay as well - otherwise it wouldn't be any fun playing. One thing that I think characterizes CORE is that we try to stay close to Paradox's vision of the game (moderated (as in almost toned down), generic gameplay instead of specialized solutions for certain quirks), just more detailed and historically accurate. I liked HSR for HoI1, but I liked CORE better and here I am. :)

That's how I feel at least working on it, but it may well be something similar for HSR - as I said I just don't know.

If Paradox is vanilla then CORE is perhaps chocolate and HSR strawberry. I don't think one is better than the other per se, its a matter of personal preference. HSR's advantage is, of course, that it is available. :D

Just one thing to remember - just because its been 8 months since HoI2 was released doesn't mean we've worked full time on CORE. Many of the core members of the group are Betas and most of us have lives and families. For various reasons, many of the members haven't been able to devote themselves to development as other teams may have, so you can't compare the time we've spent in silence to that of other groups. Still, the changes we have in store are significant - I just hope we can release soon enough so you all can get to play what I've tried a bit of already. It will still be a beta (or alpha even?), not a finished product by any means. Do not compare it to CORE0.9.

Just a side note so expectations aren't unduly high. :)

Now you've committed to a brief preview. :D
Hehe, well, I have been offering hints at the air mod for some time in another thread here and the Industrial tech tree is being discussed right now over at coremod.org (development sub-forum, log in required) with graphics and everything!

*heads over and signs up*

What are the different aims and purposes between Stony Road and CORE. I like Stony Road, but haven't tried anything else. So CORE and Stony Road are two different animals; could someone explain the taxomology? Thanks in advance

Thats sounds good!! :)
I would like that players of tha Austria mod told the mod was good in the austria thread. So that I know that people like it. :)
