Campaign crashing

I played PA over the free weekend and bought it last night because I liked it and wanted to keep playing. I got to the last city of the campaign, where you are to dismantle or rebuild the execution chamber, and rebuilt the destroyed prison around it. I got the land filled up, got everything set up, put in solar and wind power, then went to purchase a land expansion. The game chugged for a minute and crashed to desktop.
I have reloaded multiple times, in safe mode, and have even turned down my screen resolution. The game crashes upon load of my prison.
I've double checked the game's specs, my machine is more than enough to run it with ease.
I am playing completely unmodded.
I played for a few hours before the game dies on me.

Is there any fix for this outside of a refund?

I had almost exactly the same experience. Played a bit for the free weekend, purchased the game (and all dlcs.) Played up until the execution campaign and now the save no longer loads. I can load older saves, but none that were created after level 5. Only difference is I did not purchase land so my game never crashed during gameplay.

Hopefully it will be patched soon because I spent hours on that prison.
