Are the campaigns completely linear? Do they require the previous mission to be completely successful before you can move onto the next mission? Or can they be carried out in any sequence, or if not successful previously?

All scenarios in the campaigns can be played independently in skirmish mode, but that doesn't help you progress in the campaign itself. So, yes it is quite evil that way.

Try on easy if you're stuck. If you're stuck on easy, ask for tips here!

Viper: what mission doesn't end with all goals fulfilled?

I think it works good the way it do. If you cant complete one mission, you can still play, but you wont get any achievements for it and you wont progress in the story. You have to work for it. :)

Edit: This model only works if the balance of the mission'a are good. The fact that you can actually put it to easy in one mission and play the next on normal in the middle of the campaign is great.
