I ask this because, canal is very important in CK era. I am wondering if CK would model that at all. I mean, the canal between Luebeck and Hamburg is the reason for Hansa's existence. So no canal, no Hansa or at least, very different form, more of protection league than economic league. Canal was there so that the trip from North Sea to Baltic Sea would be much shorter, no risk of pirates.

What about the canal between Danube and Main? Is that too late for CK time? I forgot:eek: Anyway, could you give us more examples of canal? At least, we should have the oppunity to make Luebeck canal.

Zue canal  Canals is not resally my area, however i do not think that the Lübeck canal is all to important since denmark is such a small land to sail around, and the hansa can be formed in game anyway.

Canals were even more important in the EU era and they can't be constructed so I wouldn't get my hopes up too high

Then how do you make the canal an event? After all, canal was, and is important as trade AND transporting.

At a certain trigger the event Lueubeck Canal is built. It would increase the tax and income value of certain provinces (if those attributes are associated with provinces) and maybe sbring the Hansa into being.

Now don't ask what would trigger the even 'cause I don't know.:)

That is perfect but there is one problem, the canal is also used for the transporting armies, and warship (it is cheaper and easier to travel from North Sea to Baltic Sea using canal than go though Sound Due.) Is it possible that there will be a river appearing after the event?

it MAY be possible, but because we don't have any clear idea about what the capabilities of this game are all we have are speculations

True. We will have to wait and see. But it is fun to speculate!:D

The Hansa started off as a group of merchants who regularly travelled to Wisby (Gotland). Later it evolved and turned into a political organization.

Concerning the canal: I think that it was "constructed" by the Hansa not the other way round.

Actually, Hansa was established when the canal was built. Hansa started out with Luebeck and Hamburg working together to exact a toll, also that canal starts at Hamburg, and ends at Luebeck.
