It would be interesting if u can make up ur own dyntasty. I want to start out as head of Strobel Dynasty! I try to make my own claims to lands (Say Wurttemberg for my family, Strobel, is from there) So that I could establish myself as Emperor, that would be cool!

But still a nice idea, uh!? I will make Strobel Dynasty the most famous on the Earth!

Of course, I'd love the fantasia type scenario to begin my Scottish ancestry based dynasty...just for coolness alone

That'd be suite!

So that gameplay wasn't diminished, the create your own dynastic line should just be a fantasia option.

Since the dynasties are dynamic there will be a list of names which will be used (maybe randomly maybe in some order) so that reasonable names are use when people are born into a family (so you wont have a guy named Pedro born to Philip of Swabia). You will probably be able to edit that list and put whatever names you want there. Probably won't be able to change the dynasty names, but who knows? maybe you will be able to.:)

this begs the the question then...( may have already been done ) how historical will some of these personages be??

It would seem possible for the Plantagenants to die out or diverge from their course before Richard I came to the throne....No Lionheart..
Or the Black Prince....If there is alot of room for families to divert from history we may see few historical leaders appear if any....Not a complaint...I think this is a more historical look at leaders and off spring...which would have been nice ( though on a different level of course ) in EU2...Let history decide who the great leaders are by what they did not by their statistics.

Except for the beginning of the game and the beginning of scenarios there won't be real royal personages because of all the possiblelities of life/death/marriage/etc. Just like in EU, unless you start out with a scenario you probably won't have the 30 Years War because history changes as soon as play starts.

Now my guess would be that the names used will be close to historic but when Richard I shows up it might be not until 1200 or some such thing. He won't be the historical Richard I because there might not be a Henry and Eleanor to give him life.:)

So are we saying Random attributes then??
If so then will we as players know them or just be able to work with them and figure it out for ourselves.

Not sure about random attributes. Think they might have some stats derived from parentage. Seem I read that somewhere (but it might just be me wishing).:)

Huh? Many sons of great fathers were mediocre at best.

Meant that they were not totally random. My guess from what I have read (or imagined I've read) is that a random stat is generated within parameters determined by mom and pop's stats with maybe some sort of factor for degree of consanguinity (is that a word).:)

Aye that´s for sure. And because of their fathers greatness they often ended up in positions where they could do serious harm.

Poor Bob LaFollette Junior *sniff* This brief interlude into Wisconsin politics has been brought to you by the letters F and U :p

Seriously though, it would be interesting if the system worked so well as that attributes of both the father and mother came into play. *laughs* Now if we could just choose our own names for the dynasties(to everyone's horror, we see King Henery "Hank" Dombeck of Poland" :p

The only problem that I see with a completely dynamic historical system is that the players will always be making the most rational choice as they are playing a game - e.g. personal hatreds do not exist to fuel wars, the true depths of religious contention and its effects don't come to bear, etc. Making the system completely removed from some kind of events take away an actual history, as history is formed by real people making decisions based on their own interests, rather than algorithms and their exploitation.

First, players do consider human factors when playing EU2 for example and do not always consider rational factors only. This is not a constant that can be proven.

Second, I think that Greven have seen the flaw already. Personal stats of princes and princesses strangers of the family line will surely be hidden to the player to "hinder" rational behavior and force the player to consider "human" factor a little more in their choices.

Otherwise, I agree. :)
