Can someone explain drone range(?). Drone How to manage sizable zones

I have built two domes. I have shed loads of drones and resources piled in resource dumps. At one end of my site not in range of all drone hub but drone hubs all overlap.
The drones are just sitting there.

I would be grateful if someone could explain what is going on here? And how best to manage drones

Drones need to be able to reach both the "source" and "destination" to move a resource. So the drone hub coverage area has to include the source and destination.

I usually put resource storages next to my drone hubs and overlap the drone hub coverage to include the storages at the neighboring drone hub. That way the drones can move the across whole coverage area as needed. This is lots easier when you can build shuttles since they can fly everywhere.

Ahh

That is a tip which would be useful a load screen, how to best position drone hubs. I was placing them at the extent of the range, a diameter apart, where really I should be placing them within one radius apart.

Not really drones since they can't build things. Shuttles just move resources and colonists. Shuttles can't go inside domes either.
